Hi everyone, I cannot for the life of me find any and I repeat ANY e-sword downloads that do not have errors in it, maybe its my computer....every time I open up the e-sword that I have downloaded....I get an error message: Unable to open up strongs dctx??? Can anybody out there help me correct this problem??

Just some thoughts: Is this a fresh install of E-sword? If so I would uninstall it, redownload from the e-sword site, install and see if any of the resources work. If they do then try downloading a resource, install it and see if that works.

I have tried numerous times to download e-sword for the e-sword website and I keep getting the same errors: cannot open the strongs.dcxt
So now I completely removed the e-sword from my computer. Please help me find a link to a download that does not contain errors.

Be sure to delete the file you originally downloaded from your computer, go to the e-sword site and download and install it.

http://www.e-sword.net/downloads.html and toward the bottom there is a down arrow.

If you still have trouble check a couple things and post your findings.

1. Go to program files/e-sword in windows explorer and see if you have files there, see if a strongs.dctx file is there.

2. Open E-sword and go to options/resource and toward the bottom be sure it says c:/program files/e-sword.

Someone should be able to get you up and running. Any information will help others to help you.

This problem isn't an e-Sword download with errors, and so the solution isn't finding a download without errors. The problem is most likely a configuration issue of some type. See Excentric's post above for 2 very good possibilities. If that doesn't work, then please tell us your operating system, whether you upgraded or this was a fresh install, whether your running on a pc, linux, or mac, etc.

In July 2016 e-Sword version 11.0 was released. New features included all new HTML-based resources, including a new Lexicon module type. The Strong's Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries were then provided as "strong.lexx" as a download for e-Sword version 11.0. In e-Sword you will find that there is now a Dictionary entry to download Dictionaries, Strong, Strong's Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries, published in 1890, public domain, last updated 2019/08/08.  

 

The Strong's Exhaustive Concordance (Enhanced), SECE+.lexi.zip was supplied to Bible Support by Elira Wong, Feb 02, 2017, last updated Nov 24, 2018, available from http://www.biblesupport.com/e-sword-downloads/file/10957-httpsmarvelbible-hebrew-bible-bhs-5th-ed-interlinear-english-morphology-strongs-no-hebrew-lexeme-analytical-lexicon-etcbc-version-4c-e-sword-mac-ios-ipad-iphone/

This zipped file contains SECE+.lexi date file modified 2017-02-09. This module was designed in HTML coding, for the Mac, and will be able to be viewed on e-Sword X for the Mac, on e-Sword HD for the iPad, e-Sword LT for the iPhone, and with e-Sword on Android devices, and will also be applicable for e-Sword for the PC version 11 and later.
