I believe that a full a set of commentaries, OT and NT, are available for conversion from College Press Publishing. This is the Bible Study Textbook Series. It is in PDF format and is available for free downloads. Church of Christ/Christian.

The Old Green Commentaries they are giving away are still copyrighted. So we need permission, which I have asked for. It sounds rather legalistic, to need permission to distribute something that's being given away for free, but since they own the work, they have the right to determine how it can be distributed. So I asked and if they say yes, we can make a module using the Old Green Commentaries and post it here.

I'm happy to report that the CEO of College Press Publishing has granted us (BibleSupport.com) permission, in writing, to make and distribute e-Sword modules (free of charge) of their "Old Green" commentaries shown here: http://www.collegepr...efront/node/238

I will begin work on this when I finish with Dr. Peter Pett's commentary.

That is great news, I didn't know about the cease and desist order or I would have had to face a conflict as to whether or not I had to delete the "THE COLLEGE PRESS NIV COMMENTARY NEW TESTAMENT" that I have.

I probably should anyway, but since they did give permission can I assume retroactive assent?

That is always a problem for me when I discover that a module I use a lot is not authorized even though I downloaded it in good faith.

Hi,

We need to clarify this.

Long before the creation of this site, someone created an unauthorized College Press NIV Commentary for e-Sword. That commentary has not and will not be distributed from this website because it is illegal to do so.

College Press has given us permission to use the Old Green Commentaries, already freely available on their website. They have not given us permission to distribute materials they currently sell. They gave us permission to use the Old Green Commentaries because they are out-of-print and no longer sold.

Thus, they have not given "retroactive assent" for the unauthorized College Press NIV Commentary that someone previously made. The College Press NIV commentary is entirely different than the Old Green Commentaries. College Press Publishing actually publishes a number of books (not just the NIV series), although they may be best known for the NIV series.

To recap: everything College Press produces is copyrighted, sold commercially, and we cannot distribute it, except the Old Green Commentaries.

I have not looked at the commentaries yet, but will we also be able to distribute in MySword?

Ok. That clarifies it. I will delete my copy of the College Press NIV Commentary.
