All,
Someone posted these instructions for making MySword Bibles from e sword bblx files and I tried it on two bblx files from www.biblesupport.com and it worked! Just rename the bblx file from .bblx to .bbl.myblible and the Bible will work in MySword. It appears to be that simple! Very strange! Here is the instructions I got:

The conversion is simply rename e-sword bible module

1.- Rename .bblx to .bbl.mybible
2.-Upload this bible into mysword folder where you can find other bibles in Android device
3.- Open mysword for Android and you can find the Bible.
4.-Enjoy

Blessings,
Peter

Wow! That is simple. If I only had an Android phone...

Only works on unencrypted Bibles obviously and not on other types of resources.

I only tried it on two Bibles from this site as a test... The Diciples Bible and Geneva Bible.

I wonder if this would be an easy way to convert a theWord Bible module back to e sword. I doubt it will work, but I will try tomorrow.

That's interesting. Do you need a way to convert TheWord Bibles to e-Sword?

Not really, most Bibles already exist, it was more of just a curiosity.

If it works, let me know, as it would save me a lot of time with a project.

Cobb78,
I tried changing the extension of a MySword Bible I had converted previously. It kind of worked, except where there was supposed to be italics, it displayed like this in e sword:

<FI>be<Fi>

I think that was supposed to be italics...

I am not sure if this would save you time or not. I do not know how easy it is to clean up an e sword Bible.

Blessings,
Peter

The sqlite schemas for .bblx and .bbl.mysword look a lot alike (except for the Details table; e-Sword has a boolean for Apocrypha and MySword has some date columns but the verses themselves are in a Bible table with the same structure). I think things will break down when you encounter unicode characters though. e-Sword uses an RTF-like syntax (\u239) while MySword uses a HTML syntax (ï). Even with English bibles you might run into this, think of em-dashes and the like.

Regards,
Rob

This only worked for me on a couple of very simple Bibles. It did not work on one I tried over the weekend. Thanks for the information.

A Rob, do your scripts for commentaries handle converting the tool tip scripture pop ups in e sword to the verse reference links in MySword?
