Hi was wondering if someone might be able to help me out with an issue I'm having creating a Mysword module using Tooltip NT. Basically what I am trying to do is get unicode/diacritic characters (I believe that's what they're called, ex. ḇ, ē,etc.) to display correctly on MySword. Below are the steps that I've taken so far:

  1. Completed the created module on Tooltip NT (included characters such as ḇ, ē,etc.)
  2. Used Font = TITUS Cyberbit Basic (also tried a few others to see if they would work)
  3. Saved the module using "(Method 2) book chap:verse" - Attached File  Screenshot (1).png   488.5K   19 downloads
  4. Converted the .bblx file to bbl.mybible
  5. Imported bbl.mybible file to MySword "bibles" folder
  6. Opened the bible in MySword and this is what I got=> Attached File  NormalAppImage(11).png   159.78K   18 downloads

*[[Gen 14:19]] TSOW* He blessed him, and said, "Blessed be A\u7687?ram of Elohim Most High, possessor of heaven and earth:

  • The above should read "Blessed be Aḇram of Elohim Most High". This is what the text looks like in ToolTip NT when I'm editing it but every time I save and transfer the file to MySword it looks like the above. Also I have some Hebrew text in the module and they also show it in a similar way => "hb: u1513?u1473?u1502?u1497?u1501? - lit. sky, the place of the winds".
  • I also tried changing the font on MySword to other fonts that might be able to read the text but that did not work either.

So this is the problem that I am running into, if someone could help me out with getting these characters to show up in MySword I'd greatly appreciate it!

Hi Amrhone,

Here is all your files (please keep and back up)

Attached File  The Scriptures of the Way.zip   11.28MB   8 downloads

You have your old file and a new one (rtf) I made the e-Sword version (10 and 7), the Word, and MySword modules

My suggestion is if you want to add more to it open the new rtf to see where you want to edit, Open the Word module with notepad find and replace what you want.

Look over this file, it will guide you about the codes

http://www.biblesupp...ord-test-bible/

I used verse rule <SW> Look at the end of the file of your module

If you have any more questions please ask

thanks

Hi, I would like to create my own Bible module. I have studied several sources on how to do it properly so that I would not need to spend to much time by reworking it. These were very helpful pages: How To Make a Bible for MySword and MySword Modules' Format and also ToolTip NT for e-Sword.

Still, there are few questions remaining:

  1. How can I create a Bible module with a different versification than the default one used by TheWord and specified by 31102 lines?
  2. How can I create a Bible that can be read in Paragraph mode? I want to have paragraphs in the same places where they are in the printed Bible. Sometimes those paragraphs are inside the verse, and for these I know there is <CM> paragraph marker. But how can I achieve that individual verses are not treated as individual paragraphs? The MySword Test Bible found in one of the posts mentioned above has all verses in separate paragraphs.
  3. Is it possible to use a default footnote text? I want all footnotes to be marked by asterisk (*). I know I can use <RF q=*>. But is it possible to make this default without the need to do it in every place?
  4. The same question for cross-references. I want all cross-references to be marked by #.
  5. Is it possible to use superscript in Bible modules? I would like to use it for footnote and cross-references markers so that they are less disruptive in the text.

Thank you very much in advance for your tips on how to turn those ideas into reality :).

1. MySword has more flexibility in versification than theWord.  You can add more or less verses within a chapter than standard KJV versification.  however, you cannot add chapter, like Joel 4 in BHS bible cannot be placed properly in MySword

2. MySword should be able to read <CM> but not <CL>, what I recall is that free version doesn't support paragraphing.  You have to pay or so-called "donate" in order to use it.  (correct me if I am wrong)

3. you can, in verse rule put <RF>[a TAB character here]<RF q=*>

4. not sure, but you can change "Merge text" in setting > cross-reference

5. yes, , basic html is supported. try put inside <RF><Rf> , like <RF>TEXT

<Rf> and let me know

MySword team is very responsive and helpful in dealing module making on non-copyrighted materials.  You may send them email for detailed specification.

Blessings,

Eliran

Hi, Eliran,

Thank you very much for your answer. I really appreciate it.

As for my questions 3, 4, 5 I believe I have understood and will be able to apply your suggestions. I have tried your suggestion to my question 4 and it works. Still, I would need some clarification for my 1st and 2nd question.

As for my question 1.

You mention I can use different versification. But how can I explicitly set the Bible versification for my individual Bible? For example, in Exodus, some chapters have one verse offset. One Bible ends chapter 21 with verse 37 while other Bible ends with verse 36. The first Bible ends chapter 22 with verse 30 while the second Bible ends with verse 31. Total number of verses in chapters 21 and 22 is the same, but the versification is different. How can I set, let's say, that my Bible uses the second versification (21:36; 22:31)?

As for my question 2.

I am not fully sure how can I apply your answer to my problem. I understood that <CL> that is used for new line in TheWord is not supported in MySword. I guess it should not be too much hassle since I can still use <CM> instead. However, how can I tell MySword not to put every verse on a new line/into new paragraph? Would you be so kind to explain it to me, please?

For example I want Ge 1:3-6 to be in one paragraph. However, as far as I understand, in ont file every verse needs to start on a new line (separated by CR+LF). How can I tell MySword that I want to bind those verses into one paragraph? (I have a deluxe version that supports paragraphing.)

Hopefully I was able to describe my problem in an understandable way. I would really appreciate if you were willing to spent some of your precious time to answer the questions that are still unclear to me.

With Regards.

Hi Prorok,

I attach two screenshots here, one shows modified versification, another shows paragraphing. Both are possible, should be straightforward with no secret.

after reading your questions, I guess your difficulties were due to the converter you use. I did not use convertor to do modules like two two in screenshots here. I arrange data in csv file with a simple text editor and import into sqlite file directly. that's why my modules are not limited by convertor.

re question 1: in sqlite table, simply specify any verse number you want. re chapter no., MySword accept KJV chapters only.

re question 2: I simply put CM tags at the end of paragraphs , no extra steps.

I suggest dont use converter to achieve more flexibility

edit ... sorry, forgot attachment
