I have had a request from a friend who has no desire to upgrade from e-Sword 8. Is it possible to take a resource and convert it backwards from cmtx to cmt?

No easy way that I know of. The key would be to find a SQLite to Access database converter. I looked briefly at the request of someone else but couldn't find anything. Then again, I don't invest much time in projects that are necessary because someone won't upgrade to a modern version of e-Sword. :) I spent about 5 minutes looking. You can search if you like--maybe you'll have more success.

Cobb,
I can do this for you or you can download BeST and try it yourself... Some have trouble getting BeST to work. BeST only works on commentaries, dictionaries, and Bibles.
Blessings,
Peter

I have a friend who wants the file here (which I created/uploaded)
http://www.biblesupp...t-commentaries/
but in 8x format.

How hard is it to do this in BeST, because I've not been able to do anything with that program for years.

I couldn't get Best to run on any of my computers. And my support emails went unanswered. Oh well. that's when I found T3.

I will attempt convert it for you. It will only take a few minutes. I will email it to you and your friend can see if it works. I do not have e sword 8x to check it.

I sent you the email Cobb.

BeST only runs on my Vista 32 bit and Windows 7 32 bit (I think).

It also runs on my XP netbook.

It will not run on my new 64 bit Windows 7 PC.

Thank you! I will forward it his way and then will let you know if it worked when he tells me. I truly appreciate it!

Hi Brad

Is it possible to take a resource and convert it backwards from cmtx to cmt?

With BeST you just select "Convert file", drag the 9 file on to the blue ribbon, and it will convert it in a few seconds, provided the file is not encrypted.

I have successfully converted bibles, commentaries and dictionaries with that tool. Take into account that commentaries that contain cross-chapter notes (I mean, a note that covers more than one chapter) will not work in e-Sword 8.

Anyway, I would absolutely recommend to update to e-Sword 10 and leave the past behind.

Regards,

Carlos

hi
I agree with all Carlos. I collect v7 just to convert over to 10x. v10 is the Best so far.

I would like to know why he want to stay with v8-?

thanks
