There were systemic problems with 10.0.3 or 10.0.4 (don't remember which one); but the most recent version has corrected those systemic problems.

Sorry, I hadn't paid much attention to this thread.
I have downloaded Alford's Commentary, and I see what the problem is. That problem is not version-dependant. Greek letters in that module cannot display correctly neither in e-Sword 9 nor in e-Sword 10, no matter what version you have, because Greek characters are not correctly entered.
The Greek text in that module looks like this:
\f2\b\ltrch\fs36 \u928 \u929 \u927 \u931 \u929 \u937 \u924 \u913 \u921 \u927 \u933 \u931
where every \uXXX means a unicode character. But they should have a ? symbol after them, instead of a space. I mean, it must look like this:
\f2\b\ltrch\fs36 \u928?\u929?\u927?\u931? \u929?\u937?\u924?\u913?\u921?\u927?\u933?\u931?
I have done a quick search and replace on the text and reimported it, and at first look it displays ok. I haven't checked it carefully, so there might be errors.
Since this module was prepared, it seems, by Peter (pfpeller) and there are pocket and MySword versions of it, and also since I don't know how to update a module that has already been uploaded here, I have placed the corrected file here, just for a few days:
http://www.mediafire...7cc4co3c31ur6d9
(I hope I'm not trespassing any rule here).
It would be great if Peter could have a look at it and re-upload it for everyone.
To fix the other modules with this problem, I would follow the same procedure:
- Make a backup of the .cmtx file.
- Open the module with SQLite Manager for Firefox.
- Export the Verses table as XML.
- Empty the Verses table and Compact it.
- Open the XML file in Microsoft Word (I rather use a text editor that support regular expressions)
- Go to Edit - Replace, select Wildcards on.
- Search (without quotation marks):
"(\\u[0-9]*) " (notice there's a blank space at the end)
Replace with:
"\1?" (no space now).
- Save the file
- Back to SQLite Manager.
- Import the modified Verses.xml file into the Verses table.
- Open in e-Sword and see it now displays Greek correctly.
Regards,
Carlos

Thanks elbulerdo. I will try to look at and updload the fixed file later today when I get some time. For some reason the problem only shows up in Windows XP and not Vista or Windows 7. I do not have much time to fix the other Greek files for a little while, so please be patient.
I concur, does not happen for me in Windows 7 or Vista.

That's strange.
When you represent unicode text in RTF you need to write \u plus the character decimal number, plus an alternative character to show in case that one is not available. Usually this alternative character is ?, that's why when you see a file in an unsupported script all you see are ?'s. I'm guessing that maybe in e-Sword Vista and 7 the space is recognized as the alternative character (?).
I can fix those files for you if know which ones have the problem. It doesn't take more than a couple minutes to do it.
Regards,
Carlos

I am not sure what to do here...
This is what the Greek looks like in Carlos's version when you open it in e sword with windows 7:
δ?ι?ὰ? θ?ε?λ?. θ?ε?ο?ῦ?] See on 1Co_1:1. As these words there have a special reference, and the corresponding ones in Gal_1:1 also, so it is natural to suppose that here he has in his mind, hardly perhaps the especial subject of vv. 3-11, the will of the Father as the ground of the election of the church, but, which is more likely in a general introduction to the whole Epistle, the great subject of which he is about to treat, and himself as the authorized expositor of it.
τ?. ο?ὖ?σ?ι?ν? ἐ?ν? Ἐ?φ?.] On this, and on Ephesus, see Prolegomena. On ἁ?γ?ί?ο?ι?ς?, see Ellicott’s note. It is used here in its widest sense, as designating the members of Christ’s visible Church, presumed to fulfil the conditions of that membership: cf. especially ch. 5:3.
κ?α?ὶ? π?ι?σ?τ?ο?ῖ?ς? ἐ?ν? χ?. Ἰ?.] These words follow rather unusually, separated from τ?. ἁ?γ?. by the designation of abode: a circumstance which might seem to strengthen the suspicion against ἐ?ν? Ἐ?φ?έ?σ?ῳ?, were not such transpositions by no means unexampled in St. Paul.
Do we need to have an XP version and a Vista/Windows 7 version. Does anyone know how to fix it so it works for both operating systems?
