I tried to search to see if such a monster exists, but to no avail. Does anyone know if there is a utility that will convert a "Sword Project" Bible file to an e-Sword one? If so, it could save me some time in my next module conversion/upload.

Thanks in advance.

Read "Muscle and a Shovel," the gripping and powerful true story of a one man's conversion to Christ. One Baptist preacher said that "This story provoked me on spiritual levels I didn't know existed! Everyone who reads this story should be prepared to "fight or flee" - Muscle and a Shovel is one of those rare books that will raise your blood-pressure. You'll either give it to everyone you know or put it in a shredder - there is no middle ground. This book just might turn the religious world on its ear." Available from Amazon.com here.

Let's just say that that tool chain is extremely unpopular in certain quarters.

The less said about conversion between the various Biblical Software program resources, the better.

They reckon that a chain is only strong as its weakest link. What is the weakest link that would make the chain break when converting resource modules from one Bible program to another one? There are two thoughts I have on what those weak links are:
  • Different Database engines
  • Different Database schema/structure
My belief that its either or both of those which make things difficult to convert.

There could also be other factors, but at the moment I just can't think of them.

The usual points of failure are:
  • flat file v database;
  • Presentation markup language differences;
  • Semantic markup language differences;
The Sword Project makes extensive use of semantic markup, and relatively little use of presentation markup. e-Sword uses presentation markup, and all but ignores semantic markup.

The Sword Project uses flat files. e-Sword uses databases.

Some constructs that can be expressed in a flat file simply can't be expressed in a database. Especially when neither the presentation markup language nor semantic markup language supports the flat file constructs.

What Z-XML does, is throws away all of the semantic markup, and most of the presentation markup.
