I understand. One option would be to get an MP3 book; that would get rid of all your headaches.

Actually I don't want or use the audio Bible function. But unfortunately e-Sword doesn't allow you to deactivate it and therefore will not run without the ancient Windows Media Player. So I downgraded to version 12.2.
