Hi Higgsy,

Yeah, I'm well aware of what file types SBR supports, but what the thing I've tried to find on their site is what converts to what. And its this conversion documentation that isn't actually there. You see, all of those file types that are supported, they can opened in SBR and read. But as to what can actually be converted to what, that information isn't there. As I said in my initial response:

That's the issue that's been bugging me when I read your reply. See, its the other way around thingy.

I guess that my peeve are the claims made about SBR with no evidence to support those claims. There is no documentation of how to convert and what can be converted to what

Me thinks I just might have to download SBR (Simple Bible Reader) and have a play around with it, and hack into the code (if its written in C#) and see which way things work.

I am glad that some new opportunities have been discovered. I'm also curious to see how the work will go in identifying the code and working it out.

The program has a developer who has added more module options to it and a few other features.

I went to their website and downloaded this:

Download:  Simple_Bible_Reader 5.4.1 (10.81 MB)

Then I tried to install it. It gave a fatal application error.

Is there any other way to convert a MyBible file for use in e-sword?

Thanks,

Van

Use an earlier version; scroll down to "Previous Versions"; I also had problems with v 5.4.1; try v 5.2.

You also have download Net Framework

You need to download and install Simple Bible Reader 5.4 before installing 5.4.1

Thank you, PeanutGallery! Your suggestion worked.

For anyone new to e-Sword, I wrote out my detailed procedure to convert MyBible formatted files to e-Sword:

goto:
scroll down to and expand previous versions.
Download this older version of software: (newer version had an error)
Simple_Bible_Reader 5.2 (1.28 MB), src.zip (2.21 MB)

Open Simple Bible Reader software.
Then I drug a MyBible file into that window.
Then, File, export book.
Type in the file name you want.
Select save as file type: change to *.topx
Choose a location, such as your download folder.
Close Simple Bible Reader program before following step.
Drag new topx file into c: Program Files (x86) / e-sword

Then close and re-open e-Sword.

Then locate the new file in the Reference section.

Hope this helps.

Van

You need to download and install Simple Bible Reader 5.4 before installing 5.4.1

SBR v5.4 was not listed in the 'Previous Versions'; that is why I selected v 5.2 knowing that it worked.

No problem but be advised that there was significant upgrade with version 5.4 as the built in web browser was replaced with Microsoft Webview 2. This change requires the installation of a number of dll files that are included with version 5.4. Not having 5.4 installed is the reason 5.4.1 and any future version will not operate correctly
