I have downloaded .exe files but Windows 10 is not installing; offers a list of apps that do not include eSword. Suggestions?

Just double click the exe files they are self installing files that will automatically install the modules

Philemon0369, The "exe" files provided on BibleSupport.com are designed to run on the e-Sword application.

It is necessary to have previously loaded e-Sword, in order to be able to have the necessary directories created in which the e-Sword program will look for the content of the Self-installing "exe" Wizard modules, which you downloaded from the BibleSupport.com website. If e-Sword is not mentioned, then download e-Sword again from Rick Meyer's web site, in the downloads option. He mentions, "If updating an existing e-Sword installation then make sure it is not already open when you run the setup, otherwise its files cannot be updated.

  • When your browser's Save dialog appears, choose "Save" to start the download.
  • Open/Run the file (for example by opening the folder where you saved it and double-clicking the installation file).
  • The installation program guides you through the rest of the process. It is recommended to use the default settings for installation.

If you need help in getting started using e-Sword, visit the Training page

To get e-Sword installed, it will look for access to a printer, because e-Sword allows printing from e-Sword. So set up a printer, even if it is set to print the output to a PDF file. If you have e-Sword for Windows, version 13 or later, check that you have Microsoft's Windows Media Player installed and enabled.
If e-Sword is running, close it using the "X" close icon in the top right corner.

Then access the "exe" modules you downloaded from biblesupport.com and Run/load them. They are installation Wizards, designed to place the relevant contents into the relevant e-Sword directory folders.
Restart e-Sword to see the downloaded modules in the appropriate e-Sword screen options.

There is no webmaster resident at this website, so the answers are provided by one small handful of volunteers. For e-sword version 13.0.0 and later, to run, with Windows 10, or Windows 11, please read the answers to queries on the FAQ option by Rick Meyers, on https://www.e-sword.net/faq.html

Article dated 2022-11-07 by Nelson Aguilar. So Windows 10 may be on a MAC, if that computer is running on an intel processor. The user can decide whether to boot up in Windows mode, or in Mac mode. However, they still need to have e-Sword for Windows loaded on their device, to be able to run the "*.exe" files downloaded from biblesupport.com

If the user experiences the problem that recent changes to Windows Security blocks either the download or the processing of an .exe file, which was loaded from another computer then that requires another solution.

If a module is an exe file, the exe file is a self installer just like installing a program on any Windows PC. The exe files will not work on Apple/Mac or Android devices

The exe file needs be somewhere other then your Progam Files(x86)/esword folder for the install to work correctly. The best option is to download the exe files into your Windows Downloads folder and run them from there.

If after you run the exe file the module is viewable in e-Sword but not found in the your Progam Files(x86)/esword folder, the module was likely installed in your Windows Virtual Store folder

I have sent a brief answer to this person using the Bible Support private SMS reply option.

I have expanded the options of how to process an "exe" file on a windows PC, when the security option blocks all files downloaded from another PC with the ".exe" file type. When the e-sword_1300_setup.exe file wants to download, the PC may look at it, and immediately delete it, because of the "exe" file type.

So we have to trick the PC, by downloading the filename with another name, such as "e-sword_1300_setup-change-to-exe.docx". This includes a hint of what to do with this file. Firstly, browse to the downloaded file, and look at the Properties. There is a SECURITY warning added into the Properties option. This is explained, with pictures, in the attached file. This must be processed and the Properties changed.

This is one problem that I have found how to fix that problem.  Similarly, if you download a "zip" file, you need to also "unblock" this zip folder, otherwise, if there is a ".exe" inside the zipped folder, then if you click that, it will be immediately deleted by the PC security, if you try to "run" it without having "unblocked" the security warning.

If you have upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11, DO NOT FOLLOW THE MICROSOFT SUGGESTIONS which were made for Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 (which will be no longer be processed from Microsoft Edge browser after version 109, and will not be processed by the Chrome browser after version 109, with the version update to browser version 110 on 10 January 2023). If you remove the option to WINDOW MEDIA PLAYER using the Control Panel, then it CANNOT BE RELOADED into Windows 11, because Microsoft has not provided an option to re-install Windows Media Player.

This user needs to see if WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER is able to be installed and activated on his/her PC. If not, remain with e-Sword version 12.2.0 which is downloadable from https://www.e-sword.net on the "FAQ" option, but, renaming the file so that the "file type" is changed to trick the PC, otherwise the Security will DELETE the downloaded file from another PC. Then "Unblock" the file. Then change the file back to "exe". And install e-Sword 12.2.0 on the PC. If the user is not allowed to install into the C:\Program Files (x86\e-Sword directory folder, then that could be blocked as well. He can try to authorize the folder to have access from the user "Everyone", who has Full access to load into that folder. Please read my illustrated attached file.

This person has not informed us whether his Windows 10 is running (32-bit)  or (64-bit).
