Hi Esword Forum/Community

Can anyone tell me if the Esword Hotkey App as Developed by Brent Hildebrand is available for use on an Apple Mac computer.

This is such a fantastic tool and so ver helpful and I am just about to change over to a Mac and want to use it there.

Is there anyway this can be converted using the converter tool? Apple files converter tool or is someone working on converting this app? Or is it already available?

Appreciate any advice or info related

Thank you

Derek

Hi Derek,

Unfortunately, the short answer is no. e-Sword Hotkey will not work on macOS. As far as I know, no one is working on porting this app to run on the Mac. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Here is the way it will work on your Mac OS device:

  • You will need to download and install CrossOver for mac.
  • Install e-Sword for Windows on your Mac Device using CrossOver
  • Install e-Sword Hotkey on your Mac Device using CrossOver.

Reason for installing e-Sword for Windows on you Mac device is because Hotkey will only work with it. I don't think that Hotkey will work with e-Sword X

Trust you will find this helpful.

Blessings,

Stephen (Php 1:21).

Hi Stephen

Thanks so much for offering this suggestion. Sounds great. I will give it a go once I get my Mac in a few days. You have restored hope!

Much appreciated and blessings in return

Hi Stephen

Further about CrossOver for Mac.

What's your experience using CrossOver has been like?

How does it perform? Is it a seamless experience or buggy?

I havent yet set up my Mac yet, just thought I would check

Thanks again

Derek

Hi Derek,

I've never used Crossover due to the fact I am a Windows user. However the reports and testimonials I heard and read are pretty good.

That said, no software are 100% free of bugs and other issues some may encounter. But from what I can gather Crossover is pretty much bug free, so I think you'd be pretty much safe to use it without any problems. The only way you're going to know how good it is, is to simply take the plunge and give it a go. As the saying goes: "You'll never know until you give it a go." And to be honest about it, I don't think you will have any regrets.

By the way, there are Linux and Mac users who use e-Sword, uses Crossover on their systems to run Windows programs on it.

Blessings,
