My apologies if this is the wrong place to discuss this. I am new (a few months) to E-Sword and this website's terrific content. When I discovered that Biblesupport.com had Klaas Schilder's three volume set, "Christ in His Suffering", "Christ on Trial", and "Christ Crucified" I was thrilled beyond thrilled. I am disabled and can't hold open a book to read for more than 10-15 minutes before pain sets in and I have to stop. When I installed this work and opened it, I saw many blocks of solid black, like what you see in a redacted document from a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. 

 

I'm probably doing something wrong, plus if I posted this in the wrong place, I'd appreciate the help in both cases. 

 

More specifically, the first time I see a horizontal block of black is 00.4.  Preface. The black stripe appears at the end of the preface below "K. SCHILDER," that is, on the next line. The stripe starts before his name, and is about twice as wide as his name.

 

The next problem is on the first page of chapter 1, on the 4th line of print. There is a black block before and after the scripture reference "_Mat 16:23_" Pretend that the underline before and after the reference is a square black box. This problem persists throughout the entire work. 

 

I have to assume the issue is on my end since anyone working on it would have seen this (it occurs that often.) 

 

I installed this by copying the .refx files into the proper location. Given they show up as reference works, I'm guessing I did that much right...?

 

Thanks to anyone who can help out a disabled newbie :-) I have included a PDF showing the problem - if you *don't* see the problem, I will upload a png or jpg instead.

Try these files instead—they have been converted to .refi format. Assuming you're not using an ancient version of e-Sword, they will work fine, and you won't have this "redacted document" effect anymore. And no it's not just you, because I just downloaded the original files and I saw the very same thing. But I saw no issues with these converted files.

Wow! Thank you very much, all the "redactions" seem to be gone. May I ask the source of these .refi files, and whether they contain all the most recent edits that the .refx files? I take it these are meant for iOS devices; I wonder why Mr Bond doesn't include your .refi files on this site? Other works available here contain, for example, both .cmtx and .cmti files.

These .refi files are directly converted from the files available on this site using the e-Sword PC to Apple module converter which is available from e-Sword.net here at the bottom of the linked page:

These converted files will therefore contain all the same text as the original files.

 

Yes, .refi files (and all e-Sword files ending with an "i") were originally meant for iOS devices, but are now usable in all versions of e-Sword (iOS, macOS, Windows, and Android). Back when this module was originally made by Josh Bond, I don't think there was an e-Sword for iOS yet, hence there was no such thing as .refi files. I guess nobody has gotten around to updating those particular files yet.
