.exe   cmti   cmt    zip
I am looking at a rather large download of Meyers' commentaries which is up to 40mgb depending on the file type.

I would be happy to have it downloaded a a separate book located in thhe reference library so I can scroll through the whole thing and read it like a book.  But, it might be nice to have to synced with the bible in the commentary section.

I am sure all the file types and their pros and cons are already covered in a post, so please feel free to point me with a link(s).  unnecessary to write it all out if it is well covered.

Thanks

An exe file is a self executable file that when run will automatically install the module

A cmti file is the module itself formated for use with e-Sword 11-13 and all Apple/MAC versions of e-Sword
A cmt file is formated for Windows versions of e-Sword prior to version 9
A zip file is compressed file containing the commentary which will need to be extracted from the zip file using a zip file utility such as Winzip

To add what Tj Higgins said regarding zip files, About 4 years ago I created a bit of a video tutorial of how to access these files without (believe it or not) using software as mentioned above.

Trust you fine this information helpful, and let us know how you got on with this.

Blessings,

E-Sword modules are loaded alphabetically.  As such, a BBLI file will load before a BBLX file with the same name.  e-Sword will only load one instance of a module with the same abbreviation as described in the Details table of the database.

Bible Support volunteers are in the process of providing files in .xxxi format, so that they will be able to run on all e-Sword versions, both for windows PC, and for other touch-screen dexices in which the information is processed to run from HTML type files.

Having everything in the .xxxi format is a really good idea since the Unicode HTML modules are the only ones Rick Meyers, the developer of e-Sword, personally supports.

Rich Text is not portable between operating systems, and modules made for Rich Text are limited to the PC.  Also, HTML modules are supported all the way back to e-Sword 11, so that probably covers 99% of the users still using e-Sword.
