I've been searching for help in learning to backup e-Sword X for Mac. We have it on our MacBook Pros.

Thanks!

John

The easiest way to backup e-Sword X for Mac is to use Time Machine, which is a built-in backup feature in MacOS. Actually, Time Machine backs up your whole computer, but this, of course, includes everything to do with e-Sword. All you need is an external hard drive, and it's very easy to setup. You can find out how to do it here:

https://support.appl.../en-ca/HT201250

If you want to know where your installed resources are located, you will find them here:

/Users/[Your Home Folder]/Library/Containers/net.e-sword.e-Sword-X/Data/Library/Application Support

I hope this information is helpful to you.

Modulist,

Thanks for that very helpful information~!  Yes, I currently use Time Machine, but only 1X per month or so.  All of our vital information files are located in Dropbox folder so they are backed up immediately.  We like that better.

So then, how do I move the eSword files over to Dropbox?

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about Dropbox. Which files exactly are you wanting to move?

I would like to move the eSword data files to a new location (Dropbox) so when the data files are changed (user inputs within eSword) the data is automatically saved in the data file.

How do I move the data files from Library to another location?

The location of your personal data files (journal notes, study notes, bible reading plans, etc.) in e-Sword X is /Users/[homefolder]/Library/Containers/net.e-sword.e-Sword-X/Data/

Documents (of course replace [homefolder] with the name of your home folder). However, I would think that these files should not be moved...

Except that I have an idea. Again, I could be way off base as I don't know anything about Dropbox, but you could move these files (or whichever ones you want to back up) into your Dropbox folder, but then make aliases of those files and put those aliases back into the location mentioned above. That way, e-Sword will treat those files as if they are in the proper location, when in actuality they are someone else (in your Dropbox folder).

I have no idea whether this would work, but you could give it a try. Best of luck.
