Iran the 1019 version and it worked just fine. Thanks for all your work. Merry Christmas 2021!

I will ask someone who is having trouble with the installer to try the final one that Brent gave me and see if we can crack this issue. Then I will upload to Brent's account and hide the one that is causing trouble.

The issue has to do with the text control dll files included with the last version of e-Sword the Brent uploaded those files work with what is known as TX28 or Text Control 28. All version of Tooltip prior to the 2020 version use an earlier version of text control.

Information on updating Windows to work with the TX28 dll can be found here:

I just installed the 20200411 from here and it installed without issue. That was on Windows 11 without any additional AV. So there is nothing wrong with the installer.

The problem seems to be with Windows 10 or earlier I believe

Just installed it on Windows Vista, no problems.

In some but not all instances Windows cannot register this file when installing Tooltip NT tx4ole28.ocx, an Tooltip user commented about this on page 15 of the Tooltip download page. The users solution was to replace tx4ole28.ocx with tx4ole27.ocx and then the 2020 version of Tooltip worked just fine

Another user on the same page offered the following solution which also worked:

I am trying to install on Windows 10 and was getting the error with registering the tx4ole28 dll, but fixed that by installing the visual C++ 2008 service pack redistributable package.

For some but not all it is a matter of having Windows properly updated

Yes people should have their system up to date, although my Vista test worked and that was not up to date.

Did you have any issue with installing ToolTipTool NT 20200411.exe yourself

Hello,

I am trying to install on Windows 10 and was getting the error with registering the tx4ole28 dll, but fixed that by installing the visual C++ 2008 service pack redistributable package.

However, on running Tooltip NT I get the following text shown in a dialog:

----------------------------

Report the following:
VALUE ERROR
SettingsPaths[4]     resā†Reg 'Resources'
                         ^
________________________________________

SettingsPaths[4] *
Settings[232]
GVars[12]
Start[67]
----------------------------------

I've tried installing all three versions available here and all produce the same error

It did crash and burn as I suspected.

So much for the user solution.

No but I went back to the last 2019 version because some functions were removed in the 2020 version and I needed them for some projects
