I'm doing the 'Bible in a Year' program in the daily reader. I often switch between my iPhone and iPad. Is there a way to sync between the two devices?

Thanks

With respect to e-Sword HT and LT themselves, there is no live syncing between them. About the only way possible to sync between the two editions of e-Sword is to have the resources on single location, that being on some form of cloud platform, i.e., One Drive, Dropbox, or something similar. I think Apple has a Cloud service which you can use.

It can’t be done, I have both the iPad and iPhone versions and it simply can’t be done.

Na. You're wrong! So there. :P

OK, better get a tad serious.

Not being an Apple product of any shape and size user, I decided to reach out to a real expert in the field, and talk to the "horse's mouth" kind of thing. So I reached out to Rick Meyer's by emailing him.

The email:

Subject: Syncing on the Cloud

Hi Rick,
Is it possible to synchronize e-Sword LT with e-Sword HT on i-Cloud?

If it can be done, could you give me the directions of how that is done, please?

Thanks a big heap.

And he graciously replied with the direction of how it's done. Now, he shows how it is done between all three devices, so there's that extra one which is a bonus.

The Directions/Instruction stuff:

iCloud is used for backing up the user files, and that is the extent to which I trust its usefulness.

Airdrop is used to share/synchronize the user files between Apple devices.  Both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi need to be on to use Airdrop.

On the Mac, select "File, User Files, Airdrop" from the e-Sword X menu, then select the file you wish to share and click the "Airdrop" button.

On the iPad, tap the "Resources" tab along the bottom of the app.  Scroll the "Installed" listing towards the bottom where the User Files are listed, and tap the "Airdrop" icon next to the file you wish to share.

On the iPhone, tap the menu button, then tap the "Resources" menu item.  Scroll the listing towards the bottom where the User Files are listed, and tap the "Airdrop" icon next to the file you wish to share.

Sharing the file will obviously overwrite the same on the other device, so be careful which way you are syncing!

OK boys and girls, there you have it in spades.

Trust you found this information helpful, and if so click on the "Like This" button. Thank you.

Blessings,

So it can't be done the way the OP wants it to be done.

I love e-Sword, but I’m unfortunately not going to be able to use it since I too switch between iPad and iPhone. By having to manually sync (in a very clunky, painful, and time-consuming way I might add), it increased the chance of missing a bookmark or note sync. Without the industry standard of seamless, automated syncing in the cloud, I’m forced to move on.

Here’s praying this is fixed in the future.

The best person you can "talk" to is Rick Meyers. Contact him at e-Sword.net.
