SDABC1

Details are available from wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

See https:// en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seventh-day_Adventist_Commentary_Reference_Series LINK: https://en.wikipedia...eference_Series

The Seventh-day Adventist Commentary Reference Series is a set of volumes produced primarily by Seventh-day Adventist scholars, and designed for both scholarly and popular level use. It includes the seven-volume Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary, the two-volume Seventh-day Adventist Encyclopedia, as well as the single volumes Seventh-day Adventist Bible Dictionary, Seventh-day Adventist Bible Students' Source Book and Handbook of Seventh-day Adventist Theology.

The series is published by the church-owned Review and Herald Publishing Association.

The project began with the Bible Commentary, which was first published from 1953 to 1957. Francis D. Nichol served as the editor-in-chief, and oversaw 37 contributors which included associate editors Raymond Cottrell and Don Neufeld, and assistant editor Julia Neuffer. It was revised in 1980. The seventh (last) volume also contains various indexes. The Bible Dictionary was published in 1960 and revised in 1979. The Bible Students' Source Book was published in 1962. The Encyclopedia was published in 1966, with a "Revised Edition" in 1976 and a "Second Revised Edition" in 1996. The Handbook was published in 2000.

It was the first systematic expository of the entire Bible made by the Adventist church, the first such to be consistently based on the original languages of the Bible, and the first to consistently incorporate cutting edge archaeological research to provide a historical context for interpretation. The volumes include commentary (1–9) and other materials: 1. Genesis to Deuteronomy 2. Joshua to 2 Kings 3. 1 Chronicles to Song of Solomon 4. Isaiah to Malachi 5. Matthew to John 6. Acts to Ephesians 7. Philippians to Revelation 8. Bible Dictionary 9. Bible Students' Source Book 10. Encyclopedia: A–L 11. Encyclopedia: M–Z 12. Handbook of Seventh-day Adventist Theology

There are extracts from items 1 to 8 in the SDABC as provided by Kodhek. Where can one find this online? I am guessing that Kodhek obtained these as 78 PDF files from the archive.org and converted them to e-Sword Commentary option. However, if they are still copyright, then he ought to mention having received written permission to host the content as free information on the Bible Support website, from the copyright owner.

There are 78 PDF files in the PDF download option. Publication date 1978.

Sdabc 1.0 The "tab" indicates the name "SDABC1" without any further details. The same lack of information occurs in the "Commentary > Information" display option page, with no indication that this provides selected extracts of the text of an old Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary, linked to certain verses only. No indication is provided to the reader to explain who provided permission to provide this information in e-Sword format. No details that an edited version of some of the contents of the details of the previously copyrighted text, has been provided.

GENESIS For example, the "Book" tab has no content for Genesis. The "part 5. Outline" which occurs in the PDF file before the verse details, could have been added in the "Book" entry for the book of Genesis. There is no indication that this may be an old edition of the SDABC, and that newer versions are now being published and sold at bookshop prices by Faithlife, the makers of Logos. For example Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary Standard Edition (12 vols.) by Raoul Dederen; Lee J. Gugliotto; D. Thaine Norris; Siegfried H. Horn and Francis D. Nicol. Publishers: Review & Herald; Faithlife, 1962–2000. Refer to https:// www.logos.com/product/38875/seventh-day-adventist-bible-commentary-standard-edition LINK: https://www.logos.co...tandard-edition

The module provides no indication of the name and source of the original text, the original Name of the Publication [Seventh-day Adventist Commentary], the name of the editor [Francis D. Nichol], the name of the publisher [Review and Herald Publishing Association], and that newer editions of the SDABC have been made available by the Adventist organization, and no indication of what was omitted. No indication of how to obtain hardcover copies of the original books, or of the more recent versions, and who the current printers or publishers are.

EXAMPLE OF ERRORS - GENESIS CHAPTER 1 Book of Genesis Select the Book tab, there is no Book overview information.

ERROR: At the beginning of chapter 1, there is no "Chapter" information to indicate where the information came from, and where the book can be purchased. Compare this with the Dr. Peter Pett's Commentary. Pett Commentary: See http:// www.biblesupport.com/topic/4812-commentaries-pett-peter-commentary-on-the-bible-and-library-collection-55-volumes-updated/ LINK: http://www.biblesupp...updated/

In the Commentary Information page, the Introduction is not included from https://archive.org/...tion.pdf

ERROR: Genesis Book overview on the Commentary "Book" tab. The information on where one would obtain the book, and see an outline of the book, is missing. In the source PDF file, this is part "5. Outline" of the chapter. Source: https://archive.org/...esis.pdf

The overview of the Book of Genesis is included in the Genesis 1 "Chapter" tab, and is included also in the Genesis 1:1 "verse" tab.

ERROR: Browse to the end of Genesis chapter 1, then click on the NEXT CHAPTER > the link does not work.

ERROR: When in Genesis chapter 1, the verse page icon, and the chapter "Chapter" icon both contain the same content. ERROR: Genesis verses, There is a heading for Genesis 1:1, no heading for Gen 1:2. The information for Gen. 1:2 is included with verse 1 information, even though Gen 1:2 comments are clearly listed separately.

HINT: If you have a problem with the comment by SteveScott, please send him a private message, including the link to the "Sdabc 1.0". Please read carefully, the entry and comments at the following link: https:// southern.libanswers.com/faq/157407 LINK: [url="%5Burl="https://southern.libanswers.com/faq/157407"]https://southern.lib....com/faq/157407[/url]"]https://southern.lib...q/157407

Example in Deuteronomy. The Book outline is included in the Chapter tab, as section 5. Outline. Why not use that as a Book entry for the Book of Deuteronomy? Deut 1:3 Spelling "The forteith year." Deut at end of chapter 1, the verse tab will jump to the next chapter, but the chapter tab will not jump to the next chapter

ERROR: There is only one download option provided, as at update Apr 27, 2022. SDABC.cmtx Because the *.cmti file is not attached to the option where the download files are to be found. This *.cmtx file will work on the PC running e-Sword on the Microsoft Operating system. However, this will not run on Mac, iPhone, iPad, or Android devices, which require the file to have been converted to the *.cmti format.

ERROR: 2022-05-09, although the changelog indicates "Uoloaded Mac/e-sword 11 version, [please fix spelling], this *.cmti file is not attached and is not provided in the download option.

The e-Sword PC Module Conversion Utility v4.2.0 was updated 04-08-2022 in April 2022.
