Hello E=SWORD users

I have a new lap top windows 10 operating system and see the copy of my study notes in file explorer but cant seem to import them into the e-sword program. Can someone direct me as to the steps to follow in retrieving and importing my study notes.

Thanks for your help

Steve

In order for e-Sword to see your study notes, they must be placed in the e-Sword folder found in your Documents folder. The path would be something like: My Computer\C:\Users\[My User Name]\Documents\e-Sword. You just have to move your study notes to this folder, and they should show up the next time you launch e-Sword.

I hope this is clear enough and helps you.

Reply from Rick, states in not so many words, that both Apple and Android user files (Journal, Study Notes, Topic Notes) use some level of html. The PC (Journal, Study Notes, Topic Notes) use rtf (rich text format) and to use those on Apple or PC require conversion with his supplied converter (but that only runs on Windows PC operating system).

The PC version of e-Sword could make html format of the above modules but it would not have the same level of editing capability.

The Windows and Android versions of e-Sword use different module file formats, modules for the windows version have file extensions that end in the letter "x" such as bblx for bibles, cmtx for commentaries and so on. The Android/Apple/Mac versions of e-Sword use html modules have file extensions that end in the letter "i" such as bbli for bibles, cmti for commentaries and so on.

Your study notes will need to be converted using the e-Sword Module converter from the official e-Sword site:

https://www.e-sword.net/extras.html

Once you have converted the modules, you can import them into the Android version using the following steps.

Step 1: Set up a free Cloud at Google Drive from the device you want to transfer the files from.
Step 2: Once the drive is set up upload the module files to the drive. You can create directories on the Google Drive for the different modules types such as one for bible modules, another for commentary modules etc.
Step 3: On your Android device goto Google Play and Download the Google Drive App onto your Android device
Step 4: Open the Google Drive App and login to the Google Drive you previously created
Step 5: Once you are in your Google Drive locate the modules you previously uploaded
Step 6: Each file on your Google Drive will have an icon that has a stack of three black dots, tap the dots to opens a menu that will display options for the file. Find download on the menu and tap it to download the module on to your Android device.
Step 7: Once you have the file or files downloaded onto your Android device, close the Google Drive App. The downloaded files will be in the Android downloads folder on your Android device
Step 8: Open e-Sword for Android and then tap the three line menu icon to open e-Sword for Android's menu.
Step 9: Find the Import feature on the menu and tap it to open the android downloads folder and located the module or modules you downloaded from your Google Drive tap each file to import it into e-Sword for Android. Once you are done importing the files close menu
Step 10: To find the imported modules for example a bible or bbli module tap the bible option (bbl) at the bottom of e-Sword for Android and the list of installed bible modules will appear including your newly imported module.

I'm having difficulty seeing some of my topic notes in e-Sword version 13. I have others that are showing up just fine, and others that are not. Everything is in the e-Sword folder in Documents.
