Hey Brother!
Thank you for your time. If anyone can help out, it's you!

Boy, this is kind of a doozie. Is it possible to convert MySword notes to eSword (or a legible .doc, .docx, .txt or .rtf file) and if so, how do you go about it?

Also, if you're willing to answer, is it possible to import without replacing existing eSword notes. Thanks Brother, and sorry for the hassle.

P.S. Tried the Simple Bible reader, but it only seems to work for the Bible and commentaries. Even tried to print out the text so I could do it the long way, but instead all I got was a chuckle at the deluxe lock.

Hello JC and GV, Please advise which kind of operating system, on which kind of computer, you are running, which version of MySword you are running, and from where you obtained it; which version of e-Sword you are running, (available from https://www.e-sword.net ), and which version of Microsoft Office you are working with at present, or other package;

and then, attach a short example file so that those who like to play with file conversions as a hobby, could experiment with what you have provided, and see what suggestions they can find to work.

You will need to explain what computer you are using as your source; and what computer you intend to use as your destination for the files, as well. If the notes are copyright - then perhaps you should first check with the mySword provider, and also with the copyright holder of the notes which you want to have in workable formats for your own use. The copyright holder may be able to suggest another option to you.

Don't you have an option to view a page, and to copy the content, on your existing setup, or to print to a file in another format, instead of to print to paper?

In short, No!

Well, that is what I said at first. But after giving this a bit more thought and had a bit of play-around with it, I think I must might have found a sort of work-around it to, ummm, achieve what you want to do. However, the process is long and arduous and could be pulling out the hair on your head (that is if you have any :D) wishing there was a faster method.

So, rather than typing a long tutorial of doing it, I'll do a video of this kind of work-around and put it up on here.

And here is the video.

Important: Where I talk about exporting the file to CVS, totally ignore that part. But as to the rest of the instructions, those you actually do follow, so don't ignore them.

On my YouTube Channel three things you can do regarding this video:

  1. Leave a like if you find it helpful
  2. Subscribe to the Channel
  3. And then hit the Notification bell.

Finally, I'm sorry that there isn't a tool (app) for converting MySword resources for e-Sword and that you will have to go through this long and arduous process of converting your file.

Blessings,

Sorry for getting back late.

@Olaf Bacon:

Thank you, those are good questions to ask.
  • Please advise which kind of operating system and which kind of computer. Asus (Win 7) or HP (Win 8)
  • Which version of MySword you are running. 10.2
  • Where you obtained it. Google Play app store.
  • Which version of e-Sword you are running, 11.1 but can up/downgrade if necessary.
  • VerseNotes.myBible
  • You will need to explain what computer you are using as your source; Whichever works, once it goes to eSword I can put on any computer.
  • What computer you intend to use as your destination for the files, as well. If the notes are copyright. They're personal notes.
  • Don't you have an option to view a page, and to copy the content, on your existing setup, or to print to a file in another format, instead of to print to paper? I can't copy and paste to a separate document, it will only let me copy and paste to another note.
Thank you again Bacon! Bet you get this all the time, but you're pretty kosher. ;P

@APsit190

You're the Brother God sent me and an answer to prayer. Thank you for taking the time out of your life and using your skill to answer an arcane and complicated question. And thank you for the video. It cuts out the backtracking and wasted time on my end trying to wrap my head around something, but realize it takes way more time and effort to do so on your part.

Will do with your channel, and no need to apologize for helping me. I've pulled my hair out over this for hours, I don't mind slow at all. My other option is "never". I'm stoked!

I've seen too many promise an 'update' and it never comes because it worked, but I hope to give an update as to how it went. Thank you both very much, God bless you Brothers, and have a great week.

Heheheh, getting my Bible back. :D
