HOW TO INSTALL REFX FILES TO ESWORD
Open e-Sword, on your Computer, or device, and left-click on the "Help" tag, and there you will learn that there is an e-Sword User's Guide, accessible in PDF format, from the keyboard "F1" function key. If you are using a laptop, you may need to also press the "Fn" key to obtain the Function key options when using the numerical keys at the top of the keyboard, because various manufacturers re-use these keys for other functions as well.
Press "F1" to open the e-Sword User's Guide.
In the PDF file, the option (Ctrl+F), which you obtain by pressing the "Control" key in the Microsoft keyboard, and while it is depressed, also pressing the "F" key, is used to Find and search for a word or string of words in the PDF file which you have opened. Press Ctrl + F, and in the search box enter the word refx.
The search option will discover this in "Refx File Format" in the table of contents, linked to page ii. The next occurrence is in the table of contents, Reference Library (Refx) Files, with a link to page 163. Then the following occurrence is on page 2 of the e-Sword User's Guide version 10.4 issued in 2014.
I recommend that you read page 2 carefully, then browse back to read pages 1, 2, 3, and read these three information pages carefully. Then continue reading.
The next search for "Refx" will take you to page 20, and then page 119, and then on to the index page for Chapter 11, Topic Notes, on page 147, with further details on page 163.

Page 164 of the e-Sword User's Guide instructs you where to find the folder in which to save a copy of the refx files which you have downloaded. That is usually in the following folder at This PC > Windows (C:) > C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword  Then when you restart e-Sword, you will be able to read these entries from e-Sword in the Reference Library window.

Now knowing how to find and use the e-Sword User's Guide, you will be able to find your way through the e-Sword application for yourself.
