Hi Adam,

There's not a need to convert topx to refx in large numbers? You can put the topx files in the program files\e-sword folder and read them in your Reference Library. The only time to convert to refx is if you have copyrighted content you want to secure or you have an image intensive resource that needs compression.

Corrupted files is only part of the issue.

A: Use different Study Note files for different purposes.

  • The Study Note file for Wednesday Night Bible Study;
  • The Study Note file for Sunday School Class;
  • The Study Note file from Perry Stone's talks on TV;
  • The Study Note file for each, individual of my various theological paper I'm working on;
I have half a dozen topical files that I update/add content to/edit, as my understanding of the subject changes. Another half a dozen or so are used to transcribe sermons, Bible study sessions, and the like to e-Sword. (These topical files are partners to the study note files.)

If I could, I'd do the same thing with the journal.

The partial solution is to simply use a word processor for all that content, and import it into e-Sword when the resource is "finished". For journals, that would be at the end of each liturgical year. Or secular year, for those that don't adhere to a liturgical calendar. (I am looking at electronic journals and diaries as things of value to others. Furthermore, being digital, sharing the e-text editions with third parties is much simpler, and easier than when using pen and paper.)

B: Distribution.

Some individuals, groups, and organizations distribute their content as Study Note files or Topical files, with the express purpose that people go through the material, and edit it according to the results of their personal Bible Study. One group that I'm aware of, collects these edited resources, merges them together, and distributes the final product to all group participants. In situations like that, you really don't want unrelated material to be merged --- especially if it is of a personal, private nature.

You can still create new study note files. While holding down the CTRL key, right click the mouse in the study note window area. Then click new and create a new study note file. From that same popup menu, you will find Import, Export, and Open.

Just got word from Rick that he will be making the columns in the SermonAudio.com window resizable, so references, titles, and speakers don't have to be truncated if they don't fit within the default column sizes. This will be a nice addition to an already great feature.

Also coming to e-Sword is Extended Searching of topx/refx files in the Reference Library. :) We have a great search of one topic now in the Reference Library, complete with Regular Expressions. Now we'll have Extended Searching, similar to the Extended Search for Bibles, Commentaries, and Dictionaries.

Just installed release 10.  First bug I found: Microsoft Word macros no longer work - it just pastes gibberish.  The convert part works, but not choose translation, look up verse or search.  I'm using Windows 7 and Microsoft2010 latest version.

Hi,

Love everything about e-Sword 10. Thank you Rick.

One thing, though, I would like to see is the ability to navigate to any folder directly from the Reference Library window, as I have most of my topx file sorted by authors in separate folders.

Also is there a way to tag files in e-Sword 10.0?

God Bless,

Dyan

May God change our hearts to what the truth is

2Ti_2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Rom_9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

2Ti 2:24-25  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

http://www.e-sword.net/extras.html has the e-Sword 9.8 macros.

jonathon

I have those, reinstalling them did solve the problem. Thanks,

I do have one problem with them though, the first macro has some how been connected to my bluetooth wizard. I push the button, no e-sword, but a window wanting to help me establish a bluetooth device, handy but I have no need to bluetooth my documents.

Has this anomoly been seen before?
Thus says the LORD, "Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, (Jeremiah 9:23-24a)

"Defenders of the faith are inclined to be bitter until they learn to walk in the light of the Lord. When you have learned to walk in the light of the Lord, bitterness and contention are impossible." --Oswald Chambers, in Biblical Psychology from The Quotable Oswald Chambers.

Correct, the e-Sword 9.x macros are not compatible with e-Sword 10.x

I have the 9.X macros for Word 2003, aside from the annoying replacement of the search macro with a blue tooth wizard window I mentioned earlier, the reinstalled 9.X macros work just fine.
Thus says the LORD, "Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, (Jeremiah 9:23-24a)
