Besides the 3 main changes in e-Sword 10, namely

1) Redesigned Editor for journal, study and topic notes
2) Reference Library with extended search
3) Sermon Audio,

Has anyone found/discovered other improvements, tweaks, differences from the last version (e-Sword 9.9)?

I'm not sure that distribution of old versions of the software is completely "kosher" , but I am sure someone here will be able to clarify that.

Currently e-Sword 10.01 (through to the current version) are Release Candidates. This means that these versions are not the final releases of e-Sword. Release Candidate versions, although are generally stable, are put out to be tested for any bugs and other problems so that these issues can be fixed. The current final version of e-Sword is 9.9.1, and is still the actual official release until e-Sword 10x is released as a full blown product.

e-Sword 9.9.1 can still be downloaded from the e-Sword website. So yes, it is still kosher.

Blessings,
Stephen (Php 1:21).

All,
This discussion has me concerned about some of the resources that I have uploaded. Please let me know if there are issues with them which make them unusable. I am guilty of probably not having the skill/knowledge required in many cases to find/fix all of the issues. I just haven't had time to learn it yet. Maybe I should not have put some of these commentaries out there until I had those skills.

I know of some issues with some of the commentaries that I need to fix when I get time. Please let me know with a private message of any serious issues you would like ot see fixed. I might not be aware of them.

Thanks,
Peter

I tested your Greek commentaries Peter (Gnomon and Expositor's Greek). Both worked fine in 10.0.4. I haven't checked your others because I didn't have them installed. :D

Haha, your bluntness makes me laugh, Stephen. I've found when you make an error, just own up to it. :) A lot of the resources I didn't personally convert, but I gave others the tools and training to do so--not knowing that a module wasn't supposed to have it's own resource header (because e-Sword inserts one itself). Obviously, I did convert ones like the Pulpit Commentary. Fortunately, Rick bailed us out with a coding change.

Hello Brother Josh,

I first want to express my sincere appreciation for all of the work you and others have done in converting TheWord modules and making new modules for use in e-Sword. I made a few modules for TheWord, so I have a good idea how much work is involved.

I was just thinking about what might or might not be required for the future in those modules that don't currently fit the standards. I'm thinking out loud right now. If the programs used to update them are freeware and the updates are fairly easy to make, maybe we could form a small army of folks who would bring everything up to the proper standards. Maybe a new thread could be started for work that needs to be done - volunteers for that work - and links to the completed work. This would all be assuming the tools are freeware and the work isn't highly technical. As I said - just thinking out loud. I would be happy to be one of the volunteers, and I'll end this post my repeating my thanks to all who have worked on previous modules.

Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

dyan asked if we had found any new changes in e-Sword 10.0.X. Rick pointed me to a change that I have been wanting for years. In the topic notes, after you have opened a topic that you want to edit or create, you can do a full range of outlining with an Outline Editor built into the numbering and bullets tool. Open the Outline Editor by control-right click. Select "Bullets and Numbering" from the popup that appears. Just set up the type of outline letters and numbers and tabbing that you want. I did a complete set and saved them with the title (Outline Template). Now you can have a very versatile collection of outline templates or just create a new outline setup to match the job. :)

Short answer: I don't know.

Speculation: 10.0.4 may be promoted to a release as it seems bug-free.

Creation of the refx module type that prevents anyone from editing the module (subset of your #2).

The title of the Lookup Scripture Reference window (where the bible books and chapters are located--on the far left by default) changed to "Bible Books"
Removal of the Step book icon from the main interface.

Options > Spellcheck Options menu item moved to Editor Options > Spellcheck Options screen.
Reduction of the File menu.
Removal of the Edit menu
Removal of the Format menu.
