Is there any awareness of when the final version of e-Sword 10 might be released along with the macros?

I've downloaded the new version and had a good look at it.

The changes Rick made to the editors are really great. I have only one major criticism about them which is the ability to create and save Topic, Study Note, and Journal files with a unique file name has been removed. The problem with this is it doesn't give the user the ability to distinguish his/her notes. Moreover, because of the issue with these files becoming corrupted, it means the user will lose all data when just kept on the default file names. This really is a bad move that Rick has done, and before the final release of this version of e-Sword, this should be re-incorporated into the File Menu. That said, at the moment the only way around that is to rename to files to what one wishes them to be.

It looks like the STEP Reader is gone. To some this will be missed. Although I don't use this feature, nevertheless there may be many who do. So, I don't know if this was/is a good thing or not. It'll be interesting to see the comments and reactions to this.

Blessings,
Stephen (Php 1:21).

I have many Step Reader files, including many that I purchased. Yes, I would miss the Step Reader functionality and would have to decide if other pluses to the new e-Sword version made it worth giving up my Step Files.

Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

The STEP reader is still available in e-Sword 10.0.2, via the Menu>Tools>STEP Reader. The only difference is that the icon for the STEP reader has been removed. I'm hoping that it is put back soon :)

You can still read STEP files by going to TOOLS - STEP READER

Although I am hoping the little STEP reader icon will return to its previous location before the final release.

To Adam Olive and Dyan,

You both answered my question at the same time, and I sincerely thank you. It's great to know that Step Files will still be supported. I've just found out about the new version of e-Sword, and I'm looking forward to all of the new features. In fact, I give thanks for the outstanding e-Sword.

HI have you (Journey) tried the Step2RTF tool so you can make the module as well as keep the step reader files. I have converted some step reader files to be used in the main program.

thanks

Good day Josh and Friends,

I don't know what I did wrong, but subsequent to downloading version 10.0.02, I am receiving errors for all my version 9 resources (Bibles, Commentaries, Dictionaries, Devotions, Graphics, Harmonies) when I click on my eSword icon to open it.
So for example, I receive the following message just for one Bible resource:
"Error encountered opening Bible file: C:\Program Files\e-Sword\EVID - Evidence Bible.bblx"

An error message like the one above pops us for every resource I've installed. Just not the Topic resources though. I have done a restart, and a shutdown, but it gives me the same messages everytime I want to access eSword.

Josh's message says that version 9 resources are compatible, so please help, and let me know what I should have done or should be doing?

Many thanks and God bless!

HI,

Open up e-Sword. go to Options - click on resources - bottom right hand is a folder click on it. open file C:Program Files - e-Sword folder (or where ever your modules is located).

try that (others will give you help)

How to carry your modules around with you?

I installed v10.2. Open up e-Sword - Options Click on resources - Location Clicked on the folder - Open to my usb (Memory Stick). Restart e-Sword. This way My hard drive is free of 8gigs (worth of modules). even KJV, KJV+ and TSK works on my usb.

thanks

Hello everyone,

I thought I already posted my comment, but it doesn't look like it.
Anyways, I recently installed version 10.0.02 right? I currently have version 9. Josh says all version 9 modules are compatible with version 10, but after I installed version 10, I was receiving an error message for each module e.g.
"Error encountered opening Bible file: C:\Program Files\s-Sword\Evidence Bible.bblx"

It does this for every Bible book, Commentary, Dictionary, Devotion, Map, and Harmony resource I have. I notice however it didn't bring up error messages for any of my Topics.

Please help.

Thanks and God bless!

Hi Patchworkid

What u suggested, didn't work for me.
I checked and found firstly that all my eSword modules are located in my C:\Program Files\e-Sword folder.
I also checked in eSword and found that the selected folder under 'Options\Resource' shows C:\Program Files\e-Sword as well.
So for some reason the new version is not reading the 430 modules, therefore the error messages.

I did notice however in eSword that all the modules I've downloaded in the "Download" menu are all available again. These I've downloaded in the past, and used to show "Installed".

So I don't know what to do next. I can re-download them, but then what about the 1000 other modules I've downloaded since February 2010?

I'll appreciate some further help please.

Thanks and God bless!
The Lord bless you and keep you!
