Hi all,

I have created a reference module for use on the iPad using tooltip NT by emailing myself two topic notes (HTML) from the iPad to the pc. I then copied the html from the email messages and pasted it into the tooltip NT editor.  I ensured that the module reference info was correct at the top of the file and then added tooltips in the editor.  Then I created the refi file.

I copied the refi file to the iPad, using iTunes.

In e-sword HD, I opened the reference module and displayed properly. When I attempted to search for a word, e-sword crashed.

Any tips as to why this would happen?

PS  I am doing this because I wish to search within these topic notes for a specific word, such as "wisdom" and e-sword doesn't seem to have a means of doing that.  Sure, I can find topic notes which have the word "wisdom" but there seems no way of searching within a note.  If you have some other tips to do that, i would welcome it.

Before you got to reply, I have found the problem.  Fortunately, I found an older refi file I had prepared which didn’t crash.  I had omitted to place text in the module variables, right at the end where there is a bright red ‘mark’ symbol!  Once I put some text there, it no longer crashes.  (In effect, it is a title within the reference.)

Suggestion for improvement: I suggest that allowing for no text in that module variable would be an improvement, as there is no diagnostic info given that text there is vital and otherwise the reference will crash as soon as you try to do a search.  An alert that this field is blank might be an alternative solution.

Great stuff.

You had a problem, found the solution, and shared it with us. Great stuff, and thanks a heap.

Blessings,

Stephen (Php 1:21).
