Hi Guys,

A first encounter with a problem in e-Sword that I couldn't solve. Whether its a bug or something else, I really haven't got a clue. Anyway I did a screen recording of it to save me a lengthy explanation so that you can actually see.

Its a bit weird in some respects which could leave you scratching your head with mouth wide open going errr kind of thing.

By the way, this is a silent video due to the mic not working on my headset.

Blessings,

Blessings,

One possibility is that the bible module is not in bbli (html) format, this has caused issues with older modules (bblx)since the release of e-Sword 11.

Nah, does the same. Another thing is that the G123 example came right, and then the G456 bit only displayed G45. Totally weird. Reckon its gotta be the gremlins doing it.

Thanks for the feedback anyway.

Blessings,

Stephen (Php 1:21).

Did a bit of work on this, this is what I have found.

If you enter G123 then click enter then mouse over G123 you will get the correct info. Gremlins in the system but workable. Also found that if you add an extra digit after the number then you get the correct info. eg want G123 {G1231}

I just sent a report to e-Sword contact.

Problem
(Other) bug of Strong's in editors notes
e-Sword version 12.2.0
http://www.biblesupp...aying-tooltips/
The bug in the Editors notes removes the last digit of the Strong's number in the popup and redirect the dictionary.
So that G1234 changes in G123
The same with the Hebrew Strong's numbers.
It is not the fault of any of the modules but of the program itself.

If you select the Strong's number after that you type it and press on return/enter then is the problem gone. So I think that the bug is memory related.

I got an e-mail (I removed my name)

Your truncated Strong's numbers tooltip issue has to do with there not being a space, or carriage return, or any other character after the Strong's number.  The EOF is messing up the display.  In normal usage this would never be seen as people typically don't end a note with a Strong's number and nothing else.

Thanks to all who have contributed with your answers. And the email Katoog received from Rick is the same one he (that is Rick) gave me yesterday, which was:

Stephen,

Your truncated Greek tooltip issue has to do with there not being a space, or carriage return, or any other character after the Strong's number.  The EOF is messing up the display.  In normal usage this would never be seen as people typically enter more than just a Strong's number into their notes.

As for the Hebrew tooltip issue, select "Options, Strong's # ToolTip..." from the e-Sword menu.  What do you have selected for the "Old Testament" option?  I will guess that the selection itself is the cause of the display issue.

In His service,

Rick Meyers

That said, the Hebrew Strong's Number not popping up bit still remains a mystery to me. I might just uninstall e-Sword, purge out Windows registry of all e-Sword references, and then do a fresh new install, and see how that goes.

Again, thanks a heap for all your help in trying to resolve the problem.

Blessings,
