I have what looks like a virus on my screen this morning on the e sword.  It is all black out.  I don't know if this is some kind of update or an attack.  Is anyone else having trouble?  I have a protection on my home computer.  Please advise

1) Did it happen at the first time your started after you installed e-Sword?

If not: then is it unlikely that e-Sword is responsible.

2) Where did you download e-Sword?

This is the official website: https://e-sword.net/

3) Why do you think that it is a virus?

There are many reasons for a crash.

4) Did you have blue screen on the moment of the crash?

Then is it rather a driver conflict or corruption.

5) Are you able to start your computer after the crash?

If not: then are you on the wrong forum.

6) What kind of protections do you have?

Name all the protection programs that you use!

Keep in your mind that two virus scanners can cause conflict if they run at the same time. And that fake protection programs exist on Internet.

7) If you have a genuine virus program then do a "full scan" on your computer.

8) If you have a genuine virus program then can you post your problem on the help Forum of your virus program with a HijackThis log

https://filehippo.co...oad_hijackthis/

Or post the log on a helpdesk  Forum that support your OS (your version of Windows for example). The log shows active programs at the moment.

9) e-Sword has no auto-update (except if you remove files)  and only for the download of modules and sermon audio is internet needed. So the "I don't know if this is some kind of update" is wrong.
