VERSE NUMBERING CHANGED in AFV compared to the KJV:
John 1:38 (KJV) has been split into two verses, following the numbering of Stephens Greek text, thus John 1:38-51 (KJV) is now John 1:38-52 (AFV). 1 John 5:6-8 (AFV) follows verse numbering of the Revised Version (1881, 1885), and Revised Standard Version (1946, 1952, 1971) whereas more recent Bible versions have changed to follow King James Verse numbering, while omitting the gloss which had been added in the KJV from margins of late manuscripts of the Latin Vulgate, since the added phrases do not appear in the majority of the Greek manuscripts. 3 John 1:14 (KJV) is now 3 John 1:14, 15 (AFV), following Greek numbering in Stephens Greek text. 2 Corinthians 13:12 (KJV) is combined with 2 Corinthians 13:13 (KJV), thus verse 2 Corinthians 13:14 (KJV) is renumbered as 2 Corinthians 13:13 (AFV), following Stephens Greek verse numbering. You will notice similar verse number changes in many other recently published Bibles. e-Sword caters for these verse changes, which you see if using the "Parallel" option, and loading AFV in the first column, and the other Bible in a subsequent parallel column. None of the Books of the Apocrypha are included in AFV. For the content of those books, see "King James Version w/ Apocrypha", added to e-Sword since 2019/08/08.

The file afv.bblx might download into the Virtual Store if the e-Sword program directory does not have the appropriate folder properties to allow the files to download into it. BBLI and BBLX files are not the same, but HTML has little to do with their differences. The "version" number in the Details table is set to 4 when it is in HTML. [Information from Rick Meyer 2020/06/29].

If you use the Module Installer, and use File Explorer to goto the folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword, then you can position the pointer on each entry, and select, and the ModuleInstaller should then move a copy into the folder set up in the e-Sword program, in "Options"; "Resource Options", in the windows for "Resource Location" and for "User Files Location".  HINT: The e-Sword application will be able to find the files correctly in the Virtual Store folder, even if they are not shown in the C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword folder.

HOW TO SEE JOHN 1:52 in (AFV) and in (Afrikaans OV) IN PARALLEL BIBLE VIEW
If the number of verses in the chapter of the Bible, such as in (AFV) or in (Afrikaans OV) is more than in (KJV) then load (AFV) in the first column, and the other Bible in a subsequent parallel column, and the verse numbers will all be displayed.

VERSE NUMBERING CHANGED in A Faithful Version (AFV) compared to the King James Version (KJV)
John 1:38 (KJV) has been split into two verses, following the numbering of Stephens Greek text, thus John 1:38-51 (KJV) is now John 1:38-52 (AFV). This increases John 1 to 52 verses, and the Gospel of John to 880 verses, instead of 51 verses, and 879 verses, as in the (KJV).

1 John 5:6-8 (AFV) follows verse numbering of the Revised Version (1881, 1885), and Revised Standard Version (1946, 1952, 1971). In I John 5 in (AFV) verse 6 from (KJV) is split into two, as verses 6, 7; verse 7 and 8 from the (KJV) has been combined, part of the gloss has been removed, but "on the earth" is retained. More recent Bible versions have changed to follow King James Version verse numbering, while omitting the gloss which had been added in the KJV from margins of late manuscripts of the Latin Vulgate, since the added phrases do not appear in the majority of the Greek manuscripts.

3 John 1:14 (KJV) is now 3 John 1:14, 15 (AFV), following Greek numbering in Stephens Greek text. The result is that there are now 15 verses in III John in (AFV) instead of 14 verses.

2 Corinthians 13:12 (KJV) is combined with 2 Corinthians 13:13 (KJV), and verse 2 Corinthians 13:14 (KJV) is renumbered as 2 Corinthians 13:13 (AFV), following Stephens Greek verse numbering. Thus, 2 Corinthians 13 now has a total of 13 verses, instead of 14 verses, and the book 2 Corinthians, which has 257 verses in the (KJV) now has 256 verses in (AFV).
You will notice similar verse number changes in many other recently published Bibles.

e-Sword caters for these verse changes, which you see if using the "Parallel" option.
If the number of verses in a chapter in the AFV is less than in the KJV, for example, load the KJV in the first column of the "Parallel" view in the Bible view, and then the AFV verse numbers will appear correctly.  If the number of verses in the chapter of the Bible, such as in (AFV) or in (Afrikaans OV) is more than in (KJV) then load (AFV) in the first column, and the other Bible in a subsequent parallel column, and the verse numbers will all be displayed.

None of the Books of the Apocrypha are included in (AFV). For the content of those books, see "King James Version w/ Apocrypha", which was added to e-Sword since 2019/08/08.

"A Faithful Version" Bible has been updated, as at 2020/07/19, See e-Sword version 12.2.0 for Microsoft PC on the "Download" option, for Bibles, English, in e-Sword itself.

Translation of verse numbering of 1 John 5:6-8 has been corrected by the translator, to follow the footnotes by Thomas Newberry in the Interlinear Greek-English New Testament, of the Stephens text (1550), which deletes the phrases "in heaven ... on earth". These words were inserted in the King James Version because Erasmus added this in his Greek version after being shown one example of a Greek manuscript with these words, which the Roman Catholics found in Dublin, and which Stephens therefor inserted into the Greek text which was used by the KJV translators. Most Bibles since the publication of the New Revised Standard Version use the verse numbering of the KJV, (not that of the English Revised Version 1881, or the American Standard Version (1901), or the RSV) for verse numbering here, now, with their margin notes corrected.
[EDIT: the change has not yet been implemented in e-Sword. I was looking at WPNT by Wilbur Pickering; this change will still be implemented on the e-Sword, and on the website.].

AFV without the Comma Johanneum is still wrong on the website of Fred R. Coulter as in the 2020/07/19 edition

https://afaithfulversion.org/1-john-5/

red: move to previous verse

blue: part of the Comma Johanneum.

2020/07/19 edition from the download of e-Sword or on his website today.
1Jn 5:6  This is He Who came by water and blood—Jesus the Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood.
1Jn 5:7  And it is the Spirit that bears witness because the Spirit is the truth. (see explanation)
1Jn 5:8  For there are three that bear witness on the earth: the Spirit, and the water, and the blood; and these three witness unto the one truth.

AFV as it should be translated without the Comma Johanneum in AFV style.

1Jn 5:6  This is He Who came by water and blood—Jesus the Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that bears witness because the Spirit is the truth.

1Jn 5:7  For there are three that bear witness:(see explanation)

1Jn 5:8 the Spirit, and the water, and the blood; and these three witness unto the one truth.

For the verse numbering: the first NT edition that has verse numbering was the 1551 edition of Stephens text. (Not the original 1550 edition).

Some translations without the Comma Johanneum move "For there are three that bear witness:" to 1Jn 5:8 and delete 1Jn 5:7

Others do it as in my example.
Some translations made mistakes because they are not aware that the Comma Johanneum overlapped parts of 1Jn 5:7 and 1Jn 5:8.

Katoog,
This discussion belongs to the "Theological Discussion" section. You should take it over there. This is not the appropriate place.

In the copy of A Faithful Version, Bible in English, which can be downloaded directly from e-Sword, as provided by Rick Meyers, on the "Download" option for Bibles, English, Free, the date has been updated for AFV = A Faithful Version, to 2022-11-28. No change was introduced to the printer's copyright date which is still 2011, as shown in the Bible Information page.
