Hi

I would like to create a "Hebrew New Testament +" which would be connected to the Strong dictionary of the Hebrew from the Old Testament.

 

This is not meant to replace the Greek as an authoritative text but simply as an additional reference for insights.

 

I have access to old e-sword databases but they still have the old non-unicode texts.

 

KJV+ (bible)

HOT+ (bible)

HNT+ (desire to create)

Strong (dictionary)

 

Can anyone save me time and help me with unicode databases for e-sword?

What edition of e-Sword do you use? Because HOT+ is replaced by Hebrew OT+ in newer editions.

And e-Sword 11 or 12 use Unicode as output.

 

What source do you want fo use for HNT+?

Hebrew NT DD=Hebrew New Testament (Dalman-Delitzsch)

Hebrew NT SG=Hebrew New Testament (Salkinson-Ginsburg)

I have the versions stated above (unlocked) but would prefer unicode versions so I have less work when creating the HNT+ as I will only need to match the Hebrew words with Old Testament Dictionary and perhaps expand the dictionary. Are your versions unlocked?

The new HNT+ (NT with Hebrew OT Strong) would be very useful for some studies to see how some Old Testament words are used in the New Testament.

If you copy and paste the verses with notepad and save it as UTF-8 then is it Unicode.

I think you are starting at the wrong end of the proverbial stick. When it comes to creating any kind of resource for e-Sword, and this includes Bibles irrespective of the language, you are going to have to either use a Database, or Database Manager, or a program that is able to export the resource as a database file. The type of database system e-Sword uses is SQLite. And if you are going to export the text to be able to be read in e-Sword, then the tool/program you are going to need is ToolTipTool NT (affectionately known as T4).

 

If you are going to use T4, then the UTF coding,, language, and Right to Left can be done in T4. The User Guide will show how all that kind of stuff can be done. So, when it comes to exporting the resource to an SQLite database file, all that information is stored, and then can be read in e-Sword.

Thanks for responding Stephen...

 

My initial step is to get hold of required DATA to produce the final version. Once I have it created I would make it available for e-sword but i was going to create a stand alone app.
