I have noticed since the Hebrew bible is numbered differently than English versions:

On certain scriptures you cannot use compare to compare them (haha).

for example:
Psalms 36:11 in English
(KJV)  Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.

is Psalms 36:12 in Hebrew.

Sorry the copy and paste for the Hebrew works funky -

Is there any module of Hebrew built so that it aligns the scriptures? Or anyone have any genius solutions?

Blessings!

Is this the sort of thing you are looking for?

Psa 36:11  אַל־ H408 nay תְּ֭בוֹאֵנִי H935 come רֶ֣גֶל H7272 Let not the foot גַּאֲוָ֑ה H1346 of pride וְיַד־ H3027 against me and let not the hand רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים H7563 of the wicked אַל־ H408 nay תְּנִדֵֽנִי׃ H5110 remove

This is how the text is on my screen.

You ask a Hebrew module with an interlinear for the Old Testament.

There are several:

"Hebrew Study Bible" modules: HSB, HBS2, HBS5

Hebrew Old Testament Interlinear iHOT+

ETCBC+ with KJV versification and King James reverse-interlinear (that use the root words) by Eliran Wong.

Eliran Wong made also a commentary module (with more phrasing details): BHSEk - Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (Enhanced; KJV versification).

KJVr

Psa 36:11  Let not אַל_1 the foot רֶגֶל of pride גַּאֲוָה come against בֹּוא me, and let not אַל_1 the hand יָד of the wicked רָָע remove נוּד_1 me.

Hi,

Thanks Silverhair,

Actually my problem is different, possibly I did not emphasize it quite clearly enough.

When in E-Sword compare mode --- for example  KJV Psalm 36 verse 1

(KJV)  Psalm 36:1-a To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David the servant of the LORD.

KJV Psalm 36:1-b The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.

The Hebrew matching the second part of the KJV verse is actually Psalm 36:2 in Hebrew and puts it on the next page, and throws the whole compare function off.

Psalms 36:2

(KJV)  For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful.

It took me awhile of trying to read Hebrew to figure this out :) .  I asked Rick Myers about it and he does not have a program solution to the problem so I'm thinking someone would have to write a module especially to work with the compare tool.  I thought maybe this wheel has already been invented?

 Blessings to all!

Hi Katoog,

I was writing my response and did not see yours until I finished posting to Silverhair.  Thanks for the suggestions on those modules but I really want to be able to use the compare tool because I'm not only comparing the English with Hebrew but also with Spanish and Italian all at once.  So in this case, the ones you mentioned would not really work for me.

Blessings to all!

Use the KJV+ instead of the KJV for the Strong numbers.

Ok, I see the problem in Psa 36:1 it is  Hebrew OT and Hebrew OT+ from Rick Meyers that lacks the Hebrew titles in the book Psalms.

The Modules of Niobi and some editions of the KJV having the same problem.

H5329 To the chief Musician

is a part of the title.

The Old HOT+ and HOT modules for e-Sword 9 or 10 are better than the new modules (Hebrew OT and Hebrew OT+)

KJV+ (for e-Sword 11).

Psa 36:1  To the chief Musician,H5329 A Psalm of DavidH1732 the servantH5650 of the LORD.H3068 The transgressionH6588 of the wickedH7563 saithH5002 withinH7130 my heart,H3820 that there is noH369 fearH6343 of GodH430 beforeH5048 his eyes.H5869

Psa 36:2  ForH3588 he flatterethH2505 H413 himself in his own eyes,H5869 until his iniquityH5771 be foundH4672 to be hateful.H8130

HOT+ (for e-Sword 9 or 10)

The old HOT and old HOT+ from Rick Meyers are correct and having the Hebrew versification in blue.

e-Sword modules using with some exceptions usual the KJV 1769 standard of versification.

The titles in Psalms are counted as verse and the rest of the verse is counted as verse 2 in the Hebrew versification.

In my translation are the titles between ( ) and separated with a paragraph.

If you are looking for Hebrew versification modules that not follow the KJV 1769 standard of versification in e-Sword.

The only that I know are some of the modules by Eliran Wong

The issue of versification differences between the Hebrew Tanakh and the standard versification as seen in the KJV and other English translation is relatively simple to overcome. Below is an example where both versifications are shown in the Roman Catholic Douay Rheims Bible.

Psa 36:9 (36:10) For with thee is the fountain of life; and in thy light we shall see light.
Psa 36:10 (36:11) Extend thy mercy to them that know thee, and thy justice to them that are right in heart.
Psa 36:11 (36:12) Let not the foot of pride come to me, and let not the hand of the sinner move me.
Psa 36:12 (36:13) There the workers of iniquity are fallen, they are cast out, and could not stand. (Psa 36:9-12 DRB)

If one wishes to use an English translation to compare with the Hebrew Tanakh one can use this version, or one can simply use the 1917 English edition of the JPS Tanakh, which can be downloaded using e-Sword's download manager.

OK, that said, when creating a Hebrew Old Testament, it would not be difficult to insert the Tanakh's versification, e.g.:

משׁך חסדך לידעיך וצדקתך לישׁרי־לב׃ Psa 36:11 (36:12) or something similar to this.

I trust this proves helpful.

Blessings,
