Is there an available module that lets you edit, add commentary/notes, and so forth?

The only way to do that would be if you could open the bible mod in tooltip. But would not "study notes" give you the same function?

Gal 2:20

I’m willing to compromise about many things, but not the Word of God

There must be conviction before there can be conversion

Bible Modules cannot be edited directly in e-Sword, as Sliverhair said the only option for editing a bible module is by using e-Sword Tooltip. Silver also suggested the use of the notes editor available within e-Sword to create study notes. Both are good suggestions and I would like to add you can create commentary modules for use with e-Sword by using e-Sword Tooltip. Commentary modules once installed into e-Sword are viewed in the Commentaries window within e-Sword.

Actually that is what e-Sword does. You have the Study Note editor which acts like a wide margin in an actual Wide Margin edition of the Bible, and you have a Topic Note editor which acts like a note page one can insert in a Loose Lead (Wide Margin) edition of the Bible. The beaut thing with the Study note editor, you can sync your notes with the verse that you are making notes on.

Not only that, you can also underline and/or highlight text in the Bible Window.

With that said, I think what you are looking for is to put notes in the Bible Window, of which e-Sword doesn't have that capability. That said, the Study Note editor serves really well for making notes on verses, editing and/or deleting them.

Trust you will find this helpful.

Wouldn't editing a Bible to add Notes, etc... to it be kinda like adding to the Word of God?

I understand what the User wants to do.  Using the Study Notes is the best Option.  Leave

the Word alone.  Although, it would be nice to have a Bible with footnotes you can popup

like tool tips.  Would make for an interesting feature for e-Sword.....

No, not all all! Because all one is really doing is simply placing/inserting notes. In hard copies of the Bible, this is a practice many Christian have done and still do. There have been Bibles made for this kind of thing to happen, like Loose Leaf Wide Margin Bibles. There were Bibles, not many, that have had been made with double spaced lines so that notes could be inserted between the the lines of text.

So, in essence Bibles have been used in the same way as a manual or a textbook.

Trust this is helpful to you.

As said, eSword has its Notes feature and I think you can tag verses in those notes, I don't know enough about MySword to comment on that yet, but I'd be surprised if it didn't have a system considering its newness. The JW Library App allows for margin notes and tags.

Oooooh, you meant in e-Sword! Sorry, my fanaticism got the better of me :)

There's one, and only one, reason to serve God: because He's God.

Not desiring to edit the "original" words in the original languages. Desiring to correct poorly mistranslated words such as the word "easter" translated from the Greek "pascha" in Acts 12. Pascha clearly means Passover
