I have used the free MySword version for a few years.

Finally I decided to go all the way and give the $50 donation for the deluxe. After a week or so I decided to do a reset on my tablet and then again I reset. I often do this when I have a new device. I don't know the options and I get too far in and don't know what I've done so I reset. This is a 2016 Samsung tablet bought recently at Bestbuy. I guess I've reset twice since I made the donation again this was a little over a week ago and when I reset the first time I was able to click on the email link to authenticate. Howeverthis time I can't seem to find the activation again I'm wondering if this activation is only good for 2 times? I don't know that I read that clearly anywhere. I can't seem to get anyone's attention there to tell me how I can reactivate my deluxe version. Now $50 is not much to most but when you're 70 and you're on an income of less than 13k a year that's like someone working with a decent job giving $200 donation. I am a Vietnam veteran on a Disability Pension.

So it looks as if nobody's going to answer me there. I've written several letters messages and I guess I've done something unpardonable. I'm looking to e-Sword although I used to before on the desktop. I wasn't sure I always wanted to sit at the PC when studying. Now I understand there's ways to use e-Sword and to sync it with other devices using Dropbox.

So I'm just a little disappointed. They seem to be ethical people and yet it seems as if somehow my $50 donation is shot because I reset my tablet twice I don't remember reading that there was only an X number of times to use your password. To my thinking a password is a password. They should rather call it a 2x Key or Code. Password means to all of us it gets you into where you want at any time. I do remember reading you could put it on two devices but I've only used this tablet.

I don't know what more to say it's just a little disappointing. If anything changes I will report back and apologize. You can bank on that!! JEP ":-//

Last I knew you had to deregister Mysword from the app before resetting your device.

I've always gotten quick responses from the Mysword team.  Not sure why you are having problems, maybe they are too busy????  Did you contact them from their form?  https://mysword.info/contact-us

MySword is not my main Bible study program, but e-Sword is. That said, MySword is there on my Tablet and Phone because I can do some reading, and take notes to share. Beyond that, I find that MySword is nowhere as effective as e-Sword when it comes to Bible study.

Moreover, the freeware version of MySword is nothing more than crippleware. And to call it "freeware," is nothing more than an insult to creators of  fully capable freeware Bible Study software (applications).

By the way, telling the developers of MySword that the freeware version is nothing more than crippleware is not a welcomed type of feedback they like or want. All they want is just the gloss and the hype.

I hear that exscentric. Maybe I'm at fault but there are a lot of print about Deluxe Activation and use put forth by them that maybe I over looked it. But if I did I would say they should make it more clear. I never read anywhere where it says anything about "deregistering"  It may be there but I didn't see it. If there are only 2 times you can use the activation that wasn't clear. It was said you can use it on only 2 devices. Does that mean there's only 2x you can use the activation password? And "password" is an unclear use of that term. We all think of passwords as something used to access your donation and can reactivate it on your device. It should rather be called a 2x Code or Key or something similar. That's not clear to me right away. I only thought about it afterward? I am moving on. They have to deal with their operations if right or wrong. I'm not even being given the courtesy of an answer. So tell me I messed up. Either fork out another $50 or give me the option to move on. And I am moving on to e-Sword. I have to be honest. The one of the few things that moved me to MySword several years ago was the many options to the look. I enjoyed Deluxe the short time I was able to use it. I used a parchment background that seemed like staring at real Bible pages, sort of.

And yes I used their contact form about 3x. If they think I'm spamming them they should give me an answer and I'll shut up. I'm not going to argue about them taking $50 and because I could not get from their paper what to do cut me off.  Yes, I'm going to e-Sword. Have downloaded it and moving on.

I am encouraged to hear you say I might be making a better move. My heartbreak is all the notes I've made on MySword. I guess I would have to retype them all as I'm sure their files are proprietary.  Yes, and I appreciate that e-Sword does give it all out. As I told Rick Meyers once I get into it and find it friendly for me I WILL give a donation.

And I understand the issues with welcomed feedback. In fact I really did not expect to find my post here today. With 2 replies no less. And neither of you pulled out your righteous sword of judgement and slew me! LOL

At least hearing from you 2 has encouraged me to e-Sword and I appreciate that.  Thanks greatly!  jack ";-Dx

I am just curious...since I don't have mysword...and I don't have a device that could use such an app. I was thinking about getting a tablet and getting an app or program to run on it. 1.What do you think I need in the way of minimum spec. on a tablet? 2.What are the alternatives to mysword?

MyBible is as far better program than MySword when it actually comes to freeware. The bottomline with MySword, despite the fact that it still has a long way to go in making it a really good and effective freeware Bible study tool, is that it's not crippleware, unlike MySword is.

Here is the extreme the developers has crippled the "free" version of MySword.

  • Unable to cut, copy and paste
  • Unable to print.

The very basics of any half decent program to be able to do has been cut out. You seriously can't make this stuff up, and shows ludicracy that the MySword developers have gone to by crippling the program. And if you want these basic features, you have to pay them for it.

Personally, I really don't care about the rest of the features they cut out in the "freeware" version, as I wouldn't use them. However, to cut out the basic needs of a program, and so to cripple it to such an extent, to where you can't really do anything with it, is stupidity taken to an extreme.

So, regarding what you want on a Tablet is going to be dependant on what platform is you want. So here are the three, with my recommendation for Bible Software:

  1.  Windows Surface Pro. e-Sword
  2. iPad. e-Sword HT
  3. Android. With regard to tablets and other mobile devices, Samsung's Galaxy Tab, or Galaxy Note 9, or Galaxy S9 phone - MyBible

I'll add a bonus recommendation, which is, regarding Apple's macBook, and macBook Pro - e-Sword X

I trust that you will find this helpful.

Blessings,

I would suggest 32 gig if you are doing android.  Wife and I both had 16 gig tablets and were constantly plagued with running short of memory.  (We do use them a lot for multiple things.)  If you get windows unit I'd suggest 64 at least.  Some are unable to update with 32 gig units and I just read windows will lock 7 gig of your unit for updating purposes with their new 19. version that is coming soon.

I've been looking for a 12 inch tablet and am not finding anything with a price I like.  Tablets have gone up of late.

Take your time and do some looking around.  They have chrome tablets out now if you happen to like that option.  If you get a windows unit you can always use memu android emulator and get both worlds.

With apps, try one or two or three to see what you like.  I've used Mysword for years on multiple units and find it quite nice.  The wife uses youversion and loves it.

(Copy/paste?  My copy does????)

I did finally get this done. And all I read seemed to be so confusing and complicated. Actually if I'd known how I myself resolved it, it's really simple. Just ask!  jep ":-Dx
