I updated to the latest e-Sword and lost all my Journal Notes. How do I save my Journal Notes or if possible, can I retrieve my old Journal Notes form somewhere?

Thank you,

CG2

For everything you need for help relating to Journal Note, refer to the e-Sword User Guide pp. 122 - 132

The save icon in Journal notes doesn't seem to save for me "everytime." I will save them, close the app. Open again, they are present. Close esword, come back the next day...Nothing is there. I referenced the user guide pages you recommended, pg.119 as well. I understand the necesicty of making backups regularly and thankfully it has only been a couple days of notes I am having this issue. Is this a known bug or am I doing something wrong? I guess I assumed hitting the save button would have been enough to save it. Please let me know if I have overlooked anything in guide. Thanks in advance. - Andrew

Journal are date based there is a calendar drop down button in the Journal editor tool bar to return to a previous days notes you need to select the date the note were written

I tried this, with no solution.  Clicking on the SAVE button before closing the program does not work either. An error message appears.  Reinstallation of the program with REPAIR does not solve the problem.  I tried a few times already.  I am an user of 20 years plus. Any solution?

It sounds like the installer for e-Sword 13 you are using is corrupt, and not completing the install correctly. Your Journal, Study and Topic are saved in your documents folder in a folder labeled "e-Sword". The files for your Journal, Study and Topic are as follows:

journal.jnlx for Journal notes
study.notx for Study notes
topic.topx for Topic notes

Also in this folder are the files for your bookmarks and markups these files are:

Bookmarks.lstx

markup.ovlx

When e-Sword is first installed the Journal, Study and Topic note files are empty as you save notes and topics those files increase in size. If they are not increasing in size then the installation of e-Sword was corrupt.

To correct this try the following

Delete e-Sword from your PC after deletion check both the e-Sword folder in the programs folder and the e-Sword folder in the documents folder to see if anything remains. If you find anything manually delete what is there including the folders if they remain. Also delete the installer you have been using

Then download a new copy of the e-Sword 13 from e-Sword.net and reinstall from the newly downloaded installer

If this does not fix things then perhaps you have an issue with your OS
