Are you doing the edit in ToolTip NT?
You can do what you want by using regular expressions in MS WORD using the advanced find feature (I am not sure ToolTip handles RegEx).
When you compose the expression you need to look at what you are trying to find in a very general way.
You are searching for: 2 or 3 Alpha characters - a space - 1 to 3 numbers - a comma - a space - 1 to 3 numbers.
Why 1 t0 3 numbers? because Psalms has over 100 chapters and Ps 119 has over 100 verses.
This is your find/search string.
([A-z]{2,3})( {1,})([0-9]{1,3})(, {1,})([0-9]{1,3})
^ ^
And this is your replace string
\1 \3:\5
^
please note the two spaces in the search string designated by the caret ^ You do not put the caret in the search string .
There is also a single space in the replace string!
Do NOT just apply this. test it first on a copy of your file!!!!
This search string allows for there to be more than one space following the book name and following the comma.
The replace string removes those extra spaces.
So...
Mt 2, 1-4
becomes
Mt 2:1-4
