This seems like an elementary question to me, but I am just not able to find the answer searching E-sword help and forums. The question, however, involves searching, so maybe I'm just doing it all wrong. I want to find specific journal entries, but cannot search by date because I don't know the dates. Is there any way to see all journal entries in a file and then search for keywords, or something like that?

When  click on the "locate" button, the dropdown has words I am looking for, but when I hit search in that window, it tells me none found. Since I was not sure what I was doing when they were saved, If they were, I checked in study and topic notes as well. None found anywhere for those words.

The reason you aren't able to search the Journal Note by date is because its (the date) is not part of the text. The Locate search (and the Find and Replace search) only deals with the text (otherwise known as the journal entry). That said, to actually find a particular date of an entry, simply enter in the date in the text area. See attached screenshot to see what I mean.

Hope this helps

Is there a keyboard shortcut for time/date stamps in any of the text editors? I can't locate any.

Thanks!

Hi Adam,

No there isn't.

On that note, just as a matter of interest can you tell me what you mean by Time/Date stamps.

My understanding of this is that Times and Dates of a file is machine generated at the date and time it was, for a piece of software initially installed, or a date and time a file, i.e., a document, program file, or any type of data file, was initially created. Also, going on by my understanding, the initial date/time stamp, cannot be changed. That said, dates and times of files are machine changed when a file has been worked on and/or edited, but these changes are like an extra date/time stamp simply known as the "Modified" Date/Time Stamp. But the original Date/Time stamp remains the same.

Blessings,
