What is a module?

All,

I am new to e-Sword. I used it a bit on Windows and now I want to start using it on Mac. One of many things I don't understand is what a Module is....

This website supports and creates modules.

An e-Sword module is a data file that is used to add Bibles (.bbli or .bblx), dictionaries(.dcti or .dctx), lexicons(lexi) ,commentaries (.ctmi or .ctmx), topics (.topi or .topx) reverences books (.revi or .revx) maps(.mapi or .mapx), harmonies (.harx), devotionals (.devi or .devx), topical verse list(.lstx)  and bible reading plans (.brpx or .brpi).

Modules ending on the letter i are made for Mac or e-Sword HD or e-Sword LT or e-Sword 11

Modules ending on the letter x are made for e-Sword 10 only.  They working also partially for e-Sword 11. 

Modules that not ending on i or x are old modules e-Sword 7 or 8  or for pocket e-Sword (The maker of e-Sword does not longer support e-Sword 8 and pocket e-Sword).

You can easy convert x modules to i modules with the apple converter.

lexicons(lexi) are counted by the dictionaries in e-Sword 10.

harmonies (.harx) and topical verse list(.lstx) are only supported by e-Sword 10 and e-Sword 11

Modules are the data files, such as Bibles, Commentaries, Dictionaries, and etc e-Sword uses.

With that said, calling them "Modules" is actually incorrect and a misuse of the term. What they actually should be called are "Resources." Bibles translations, Dictionaries, Commentaries, and etc, on their own is an actual resource. A module is where you have a group of resources required for a specific area of study, and/or a group of courses for a specified field of study which would include the resources required for the module. For example, if I am doing a study in Biblical Theology, and one of the Modules includes Hermeneutics, then I will need the resources for that module. Calling e-Sword resources modules, and requiring them for an area of Study, is like saying I need to get modules for the Hermeneutic module. Really makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?! Not at all!
