Windows 7 Home Premium Intel I5 2500K CPU @ 3.30 GHZ 8GB Ram

Printer works fine, can print and scan.

Esword 10.4.0 works fine

Deleted anti virus re installed newest version and still won't run.

Esword is the only  program I have issues with and will not run.

I'm one of those dudes that just hates the thought of giving up, and knowing what I know about PCs and OSes, I genuinely believe the issue is not with e-Sword.

Whenever I had a problem with e-Sword, it was basically my own doing, such as trying to make it load more data than what it could handle, thus causing my PC to lock, freeze, and crash. As a result of that kind of fun, my computer (an XP machine at that time with 1 GB of RAM), decided to die, and died it did with a massive crash.

So, bearing this kind of stuff, and knowing that doesn't seem to be the issue with your machine, it still is my belief that there is an issue with your system. Now, on that note, here is at least a couple of things you can try:

  1. If you know someone in your immediate circle that has e-Sword, see if you can replicate the problem you are having on their machine, or
  2. Go radically crazy and give your system a total cleanup by formatting your HDD or SDD, and then do a new install of Windows and etc.

Once you've done that, install e-Sword and its resources, and see what happens from there.

Blessings,

Reading over this again, I am not sure about what is happening with your second drive with the other operating system on it. Do you hide that at boot time? Could this be causing e-sword to look in the wrong place for files. If you navigate to the e-Sword.exe file and run it, does that work?

The second drive is running Win 7 32-bit and when the computer boots it defaults to the drive I normally use. The second drive is older and very rarely used. I can switch to that drive at the beginning if I want. I installed the latest version on that drive after finding out esword would not work on the main drive. Going directly to esword.exe in the file will not open the program either.

It is installed in the Program Files (x86) and I have tried installing it in the non (x86) program files. It didn't work their either.

When you try to run it, does it show in task manager?

Spent time with JPG trying to figure this out. Thank you for the help.

I found the problem. Windows was last updated on 8/2016 so I let it check for updates. Four new ones were downloaded and installed. After restarting, esword works fine and was able to download a bible.

I guess there is another fix for those like me. Update windows!!

Thank you all for the help.

Jim

Hi Jim,

I am so thrilled and glad that the problem has been resolved and you've got e-Sword up and running. What is even more better, you didn't have to go down the road of formatting your HDD or SDD and re-installing Windows and etc. So on that note; Praise God  Woohoo.gif .

Blessings,

M36 - Just as an FYI... You aren't the only one who suddenly had an issue. I used e-Sword on my PC this past Monday, without any issues. When I went to run it this morning, nothing. I Googled the issue and came across this thread. While reading it though I had a thought and went to programs in my control panel. I chose to do a "repair" of e-Sword, and as soon as I did it started working fine again. Not sure what happened.

Having trouble opening Esword.  runing pc with vista.  was fine until I undated to ver 11 and installed new premium mod.  Now it won't run.  tried uninstalling and reinstalling, deleting all esword ref in reg with no luck. I love this program and use it a lot but ready to trash it and look for something else.  the file viewer says (application (.exe)  opens with no program found. got to have a program on this old thing that can find a exe file.  Any ideas?
