First you need to copy the content of C:\Users\<Your user name>\Documents\e-Sword

This is where your personal files will have been stored for a normal installation. Keep them in a folder for later coping back if needed. They don't get overwritten by a new installation.

Next contact the developer of the program and he will give you the correct information to get you going again. https://www.e-sword.net/feedback.html

Thank you Bug Hunter.  I have just submitted the same info I posted here.  Hopefully, someone, somewhere, can have the solution that works.  Appreciate your suggestion.

I have had Esword running in the past but for some reason it will not open anymore. I have tried running as an administrator. Un-isnstalled and reinstalled, and received an email from Rick Meyers with this:

Delete the following key from the Windows Registry, *then* start e-Sword:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\e-Sword

And it still will not open. I have looked into the antivirus program and Im not having much luck with that either. It runs on my laptop with Win 10, but on my PC with Win 7 when I click on the icon to open nothing happens. I have checked the permissions also and they are set to "allow".

Does someone have a solution?

Thank  you

I tried it and it worked for me. Thanks for the tip.

My PC is the latest Win10 Pro.  It's a fast rig with enough of everything.

Here is what happened to me today.

I use v.11.02 and the program alerted me to install v.12.

I got it, installed it over the old version, restarted the PC, and when I started the program it was "not responding".

Luckily I had saved all the files of the old version in a separate place.

Uninstalled v.12, cleaned the registry with ccleaner and glary utilities.

Re-installed v.12, but the results were the same "not responding".

Uninstalled v.12, cleaned everything, re-installed v.11, to no avail.

Uninstalled v.11, cleaned the PC, restarted the PC, installed v.11, again, "not responding".

Then I read this advise, applied it, and finally, the program would start all the way through.

Praise God.

Problem solved!

As soon as I deleted MS Windows Media Player from my PC, e-Sword version 13.00 immediately stopped functioning. Upon inquiry e-Sword help desk confirmed that the latest version requires WMP to be installed and enabled. Hence I downloaded and installed an older version of e-Sword (10.07) and it is working fine.

Problem solved!

As soon as I uninstalled Windows Media Player on my PC, e-Sword version 13.0 which had been installed on my pc for a considerate period of time, stopped functioning. I downloaded and installed the latest version of e-Sword (13.0) again, yet the problem persisted. Upon inquiry, e-Sword Helpdesk confirmed that the latest version (13.0) requires Window Media Player to be installed and enabled. Since I found it troublesome to download WMP through win10, I instead downloaded an older version of e-Sword (10.7). It installed troublefree and it is working perfectly. I trust that this advice might solve your frustration too.

e-Sword 13 requires Windows Media Player in order to use the audio bible features. Version 10.07 is rather outdated at this point you should upgrade from the version to version 12. The reason I say this that versions 11, 12, and 13 can use modules that have been created for use with Apple/MAC and Android version of e-Sword

OK. So, how much RAM have you got, and how many resources (of total Gigabytes) are you trying to get e-Sword to load?

Your CPU, what is it ... Single, Dual, or Quad core? And what is the age of your machine? All of these factors come into it.

As a matter of interest, are you experiencing the same issues with other programs?

Blessings,

Hello fellow-brothers & -sisters,

I cannot come into E-sword, UI have tried the 13.00 version, doesn't work.

Skipped to an earlier one, version 10.4, still doesn't work!

I am trying 6,15 GB to load!

I have WIn 10, Home, version 21H2, 64 bit.

this is my laptop, that I use:

https://www.msi.com/...F/Specification

The laptop is from 06-2019!

With other programs I have no problems, only E-sword.

Thanks in advance,

DutchChristian.

Your laptop is more recent than my laptop. So that is not the problem.

For the 13.00 version needs you Windows Media Player from Microsoft to be installed.

This is in the Microsoft app store on your computer.

Look if Media Player is installed. If not; install it.

Use Ccleaner portable to clean registry and do a health check.

To clean your computer of conflicting old installs

https://www.ccleaner...ccleaner/builds

https://e-sword.net/

Then install again the 13.00 edition from the download in https://e-sword.net/

By the way: I speak also Dutch/Nederlands.
