I hope this question makes sense to members, but I am totally confused over the following matter re King James vs Geneva Bible;

King James: Book of Job, chapter 41 verses 28 and 29 both are ok.

Geneva: Book of Job, chapter 41 verses 28 and 29 seem to be missing.

Can anyone help me in identifying the missing verses please (before I go crazy).

I apologise if this post in in wrong section.

best regards.

Here you go:

Job 41:28  The archer canot make him flee: ye stones of the sling are turned into stubble vnto him:
Job 41:29  The dartes are counted as strawe: and hee laugheth at the shaking of the speare.

There are no missing verses but the verse numbering of the Geneva is different from the KJV 1769 standard.

If you have the official e-Sword download of the Geneva Bible and use parallel mode is it easy to see. (e-Sword use the KJV 1769 standard for syncing verses)

In chapter 38 has the Geneva 38 verses while the KJV 1769 standard has 41 verses (the 3 extra verses are from chapter 39 in the King James).

Job 38:39 = (39:1 Geneva)

Job 39:1 = (39:4 Geneva)

Job 40:1 =  (39:34 Geneva)

Job 40:6 = (40:1 Geneva)

Job 41:1 = (40:20 Geneva)

Job 41:10 = (41:1 Geneva)

The sync is fixed in chapter 42

Geneva

Job 41:28 (41:19) The archer canot make him flee: ye stones of the sling are turned into stubble vnto him:

Job 41:29 (41:20) The dartes are counted as strawe: and hee laugheth at the shaking of the speare.

Job 41:34 (41:25) He beholdeth al hie things: he is a King ouer all the children of pride.

Many many thanks to all who responded to help me.

I must be doing something wrong when I google about.

i know that KJAV has Job 41:29 in correct place but In the Geneva Bible I could only find 25 verses in chapter 41.

The source which threw me has also some verses actually missing.

I was using this source: http://www.genevabib...stament/Job.pdf

Here is a related question which also puzzles me:

Is the text in the earliest Geneva Bible the same as in the later publications?

I thank you all for your patience and kindness.

I saw within the 2 seconds that your Job.pdf isn't an Original Geneva Bible because the u and v are interchanged in the real Geneva Bibles.

Even on the homepage is it clear that it is a modern update.

Geneva 1587

Titus 3:4  But when that bountifulnesse & that loue of God our Sauiour toward man appeared,
Titus 3:5  Not by the woorkes of righteousnesse, which we had done, but according to his mercie he saued vs, by the washing of the newe birth, and the renewing of the holy Ghost,
Titus 3:6  Which he shed on vs aboundantly, through Iesus Christ our Sauiour,
Titus 3:7  That we, being iustified by his grace, should be made heires according to the hope of eternall life.

Fake Geneva 1599

Titus 3:4 But when the bountifulness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
Titus 3:5 Not by the works of righteousness, which we had done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of the new birth, and the renewing of the holy Ghost,
Titus 3:6 Which he shed on us abundantly, through Jesus Christ our Saviour,
Titus 3:7 That we, being justified by his grace, should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

The modern Patriotic version of the Geneva gives the most info about the Geneva Bible editions and it contain italics as the Original editions. But is copyrighted.
