Blessings to everybody in this 2018.

Now to the point, if I put a border to a paragraph or to the whole note, when I open it again the border is gone. I'm using the last version on windows 7, I don't know if that is bug, or if I am doing something wrong, maybe a check mark. Can somebody help me?

Don't think that happened in older version.

No big deal, but it is annoying.

Emilzalez.

Tried it on my system Win 10 with latest ver of E-Sword.  Works same as always. Try other options like columns or format paragraph see if they work.

I created other note file and is working fine. Is possible that the problem be in the size?

(The rhyme wasn't intentional.  :) )

I wonder, is there a limit for the size of My Notes?

I wonder, is there a limit for the size of My Notes?

Looking at this, I'm not too sure what you mean regarding the size as to:

  1. the amount of data entered into your note
  2. or the amount of data entries entered into that particular note database.

So, I'll take a stab at both of them, and trust that it will help you.

OK, here goes. Irrespective of the type of Database system one uses (as this is what e-Sword is based on), there are limitations to that system, which are:

  • The total amount fields
  • The total amount of records per field
  • The total amount of characters per record

Now with that, all Database systems suffer from those limitations whether they are Relational or Object Oriented systems. Object Oriented Databases are a much more powerful system than Relational Database Systems in the total amount of data they can carry. As to what those figures are, I don't know.

OK, having said all that, when it comes to e-Sword Note database files in how much data they can handle is totally dependent on the limitations of SQLite, and for that kind of information you need to read the technical data for that system.

The most powerful Relational Database System touted is PostgreSQL with Oracle coming in as the second most powerful. The most powerful Object Oriented system is Jade, of which, from my understanding, is its capacity outstrips any Relational system.

Just to let you know, when it comes to databases, they hate me. I crap out terribly when it comes to designing and creating databases. Yet I have an incredible understanding of how they work. Its one of those things, where I can get right into the theory of them and love to pull them apart to see how they work. That's gotta be crazy.

Well, I'm just an user of the computer, so didn't understand what you said. But I was talking about the size of the file My Notes that is in My Documents. Has been growing up because I've been adding notes to it, that is what I meant when I asked if there was a limit to its growing up.

Hi Emilzalez,

Yes there is a limit. As to what that limit is, is dependent on what what e-Sword can handle before it crashes, or what your Computer can handle before it crashes.

I don't know what the maximum size of a note file can be before it is regarded as full.

As a matter of interest, can you tell me what the note file is, such as a Study Note, Topic Note, or a Journal Note file, and what the current size is?

Blessings,

I mean the Study Notes, my problem is that don't save borders to the notes or to a paragraph. I tried to a new note file and it worked. That's why I asked if the size has something to do with it. Thanks for have responded, I appreciate it.

There is a limit but the main problem is the age of the file. Most likely you haven't hit the limit. I would suggest and I see you wrote this several months ago ... I would suggest backing up your "Topic Notes" to a new Word document and call it Topic Notes backup. Then create a new folder called "Back up" in you e-Sword folder which is in Documents, everything is in alphabetical order and save it to your new Backup folder. Then move your "topic.topx" file which is your topic notes file into your new Backup folder. Then close the e-Sword program and reopen it. There should not be anything in your Topic Notes when you reopen e-sword. Then try to create your border. If you can create the border then most likely it is the old file. If it still doesn't create the border then you can do one of 2 things. First you could go back to your e-Sword folder and delete the new topic.topx file and move the old topic.topx file out of your backup folder and put it back or second you can just copy and paste the text from the new Word document "Topic Notes backup" and paste it in your Topic Notes in the e-Sword program. At least out of the whole thing you will have a backup of your topic notes in your new Backup folder. By the way when I had my "error opening Topic Notes database" my file was 2.76 mb. and my fix was to go to topic.topx and right click select "Restore previous versions" and selected the newest and largest file and click "restore". Then I closed and reopened e-Sword and there it was. The main thing is to backup your Topic, Study and Journal files in your e-Sword program into a Word document in case they corrupt or something like that happens. There is way too much work that goes into these files to loose it. glantern3 (Jim)

Thanks for your suggestion. I solved the problem already, but I'm going to follow your idea anyway, just for an extra caution. To solve it I added some memory to my PC and my problem flied away.

Blessings.

Emilzalez.
