Mitch,

Many here, including the Admins, have already participated in most of the things on your list. Some things are very time consuming. By the way, post your list of things that you personally plan to contribute.

Well let me ask this of you or anybody else that wants to tell me.....what could I do to contribute? Like a lot of people I don't have a lot of money...some but I live week to week like most. So how else could I contribute...I'm not objecting by any means. I would LOVE  to help do something. ???

When it comes to this site, and what is done on here, I have to agree with you that its quite amazing.

Just yesterday I had a look at a couple of other Bible software sites on their forum pages, and what free stuff they had to offer, and I can honestly say that they are so far behind the 8 ball that it makes me wonder if they have lost the plot or something else.

That said, what makes this to be amazing is in many ways an enigma. The reason for this, when you just have a look at the e-Sword UI, in all sincerity, it just doesn't look much at all. It just looks plain and dull by any comparison. For example, just look that theWord, and that program makes users want to drool over it in comparison to e-Sword. And yet theWord, in number of users lags way behind e-Sword. Why is that? Moreover, theWord has bells and whistles that e-Sword doesn't have at all, and still the e-Sword has a huge user base that just trumps theWord.

Its not just theWord that is like that. You can see many other Bible programs that are far more powerful than e-Sword, that doesn't have the user base that e-Sword has. And when I look at that, and also see the lack of resources they have in comparison to e-Sword, the enigma really, really increases.

I've often stated what makes e-Sword really great to use, which was/are:

  • Ease of Use
  • Simplicity of Design
  • Quick access to the resources.

The one thing about e-Sword is you don't have to muck around in trying to find the Bible version, the kind of Dictionary and commentary you want. They are all just one click away; they are all on tabs which are right in front of you. I reckon you can't get any better and any faster than that.

So, when you see that kind of thing, and then you can see why people really like this program, and then from there to want to create resources for it.

With all that said, I am aware that free is great, and I'm a huge fan of that. However, its goes a bit more beyond just the free. If one looks that the EULA, whoever thought that permission has been given, now get this, to make as many copies you want, and then just give them away. Unreal! (And I'm not talking about the Unreal game engine.)

Now, when it comes to such flexibility and openness of this program, it then lends itself to where 3rd party resource creation is encouraged. And with that, you can talk about liberty like there is nothing like it. So, when you see Josh Bond doing something like this website, with a bit of help from DDT, then, hey, you have a storm on your hand that you will never be able to control. And this is what happened.

And with that, only this needs to be said, May this ministry, along with e-Sword, continue to grow and prosper in the Holy Spirit, and that everyone who uses this site and e-Sword be blessed beyond all measure.

Blessings,

When I made this reply, and seen the total downloads in Journey's response, I had a look at the total membership of this site but forgot to put it in.

Here is the current membership of this site:

Members: 162,808

Now you can see just how crazy this site has gotten, and bespeaks of the popularity of e-Sword. But that is not all.

As of March 2014, e-Sword reached a phenomenal 30,000,000 (that is, 30 million) downloads in 230 countries around the world. Of what the current download is, I don't know.

Having said that, 30 million downloads does not equate to 30 million users. That said, the best estimate or guess of what the total number of e-Sword users are, using the 162,808 members as a base to go by; you could be looking at about 2 or 3 million users of e-Sword worldwide. Now, that has to be really amazing and phenomenal of the blessing of God on this and the e-Sword ministries.

By the way, the number of downloads and users using e-Sword HT, LT and X haven't been factored in.

Blessings,

You might ask Brother Josh, the Admin. Every effort and donation of any size helps to keep BibleSupport online and working. All of the people here are unpaid volunteers, and that would involve many years of work in making the modules that are available on BibleSupport. In other words, it's all a labor of love for God's Work, including work and maintenance on a massive site achieving unmatched results. Many people have helped along the way, but I must say that Josh and his team have poured unbelievable effort into BibleSupport. It's a raging success by any measure, and they deserve our thanks. I use and enjoy their works every day and want to take this opportunity to thank them.

THANK YOU SINCERELY. I know in my heart that God will use the materials being distributed here for His glory. May God richly bless you in your future endeavors.

I remember a time before BibleSupport when saying that you had 2,500 e-Sword modules was probably an exaggeration.

Bible Support Admin, please check the naming of the modules associated with http://www.biblesupp...-ellen-g-steps--to-christtopx/ for the REFI.zip and the TOPX.exe options and the folder to which they are to download. Steps to Christ.refi and Steps to Christ.topx Other modules from the same uploader and for same author are of the format which would be White, EG - Steps to Christ.topx and White, EG - Steps to Christ.topi Please ensure the accepted naming and wording of the file name is used on the download page as will be in the file when it is loaded by the new module installer version 0.6 (from http://www.biblesupp...odule-installer) which is associated with e-Sword version 11.0.3 update from http://www.e-sword.net/downloads.html) into c://Program Files (x86)/e-Sword This information is as at 2016-07-26.

I downloaded the refi.zip file. And opened the zip. And then double clicked the .refi file inside. And it installed with the module installer properly.

I ran the exe file, and there is a problem there. It installs the topx file to the c:\users...e-sword folder which is wrong because the Reference Library can't read it there. I will remove that exe.
