Hi All

Ok, I am new to the iPad (I have played with Android for a couple years) and seem to be unable to find the commentary on the iPad.

I installed it with file sharing (iTunes). I tried a couple of times to no avail. I was able to install the Ellicott module, so I am reasonably sure I am following the process correctly.

It does not show in the Commentary window dropdown (to choose a different book).

It also does not show up in the list of installed modules (Resources screen).

What other information do I need to share to help guide you fine folks in setting me stright?

Help Please......

Roy

P.S. Yes I did download The iPad version, and browsing the file with SQLite Database Browser, the Details table/Abbrevation field contains "PHC" as its value.

There is no such entry in my resource list.

Did you restart the e-Sword app, if it was running?

Hi Josh,

Ye, I did. To be sure I even powered down and restarted the iPad itself.

I know that just moving away from the app does not close it. From the android I knew that I could close it out from the History button? and then remove it from the list. Or go into the Apps/Settings menu and force a close.

On the iPad I wasn't sure so I looked it up and found the Double tapp Home / Swipe preview upwards to close a running app.

I tried that as well (even after a restart) and still no sucsess.

Any other ideas?

I'm going to work here shortly but I'll try again tonight when I get home.

Thanks for the input.

Roy

Roy,

I can confirm that the official, iTunes way to install PHC does not work. iTunes says it installs it. But the file is never placed on the iPad, as best I can tell.

You can use iFunBox to install iPad modules. iFunBox lets you navigate your iPad like it's a hard drive. iFunBox installs on your PC or Mac, not the iPad itself.

Attached File  phc.jpg   289.49K   116 downloads

You navigate to the red folders shown above. You drag and drop the module into that folder. You restart e-Sword. This should only be attempted by people with basic computer skills (i.e. you have used Windows file explorer (or Mac equivalent) to copy files from one folder to another before).

I will confess I never actually installed the PHC before now on the iPad. As you can see from the screenshot, my kids mostly use the iPad for kids' games.

Josh

Thank You Josh!!

I just tried your "Fun"  :D  fix and it worked like a charm!

Thank  you for taking the time to figure that out. I would have been chasin' my tail for a few more hours trying to make iTunes work. (It just has to work. I gotta be doing something wrong!) Right?

Blessings to you and yours.... now give that iPad back to the kids o they can play some more :)

Roy

Hi Roy

On this I could not agree with you more. I don't think you've ever said a truer word than this.

I'm somewhat sort of a Geek, and I don't mind admitting to it. Of the frustration users had with iPad (and you can throw in iPhones as well) is well and truly documented. When Samsung came out with the Galaxy Tablet and then the 10.1 Note, I read there was a huge sigh of relief. The biggest pity is, there isn't an e-Sword edition out for them, of which I really would love to see.

About a couple of weeks ago I bought myself a Galaxy 10.1 Note, 2014 Edition, and I have to admit it really was worthwhile the expense. I find it to be a really handy little tool, as I've synced it with my Galaxy S3 Phone and PC.  Just need e-Sword for the phone and the tablet then it would all be totally complete.

Blessings,

I have tried the ifun fix and I still cannot get HD to recognize phc.cmti. It shows transferred but it is not in the commentary section when I open HD. Any suggestions?

Can this file, Preacher's Complete Homiletical Commentary, be used on the Mac version of E-Sword X?  I would like to use this on my mac.

Also is there a reader window that is not linked to the biblical text so you can just read a commentary straight through like you can with the Reference Books?

Hi Ron,

If there is a cmti extension, and not a cmtx, it will work on e-Sword X (as well as on e-Sword HD and LT).
