Is there a way to create a plan that uses passages (i.e. John 1:1-12) rather than whole chapters?

Not with the Bible reading format of eSword.  I created a "daily devotional" format for my plan and initially had the link to verses that didn't include whole chapters.  I then later added the verses (makes for a BIG file but mine is a once through the Bible in a year).  The latter of course limits you to a specific Bible version.

Using Brent H's Tooltip, hotkey, and search utilities really help if you include the verses in a daily devotional.

Thanks for the reply. I entered my texts into a devotional module as you suggested and it worked nicely. I had never used the devotional feature of e-Sword.

I do like that with a devotional you can set the reading to a particular day.  BRPs are a little more cumbersome to set readings to a particular calendar day.

Hi there.

Is the inability to have passages with fewer verses than one chapter in a reading plan a ToolTip NT or an e-sword limitation? Can this be addressed?

The original question has become topical as our church has moved from a "read through the Bible in 12 months" approach (you will need to read at least chapter-length chunks each day to do that) to a monthly topical approach, on which often there are fewer verses than a chapter length per day. For instance, a deep dive into 1 John has many small passages.

I have entered the daily passages into ToolTip NT as per the church plan for April, generated both a BRPX and BRPI files (PC and iPad) and the reading plan for, say, 1 John 1:1-4 includes all of 1 John. And so on until the first reference to 1 John 2.

If this isn’t possible, I have fallen back onto using the devotional module just as a listing of passages for the month and forgone the benefit of "keeping track" with the reading plan.

The use of full chapters in bible reading plans is part of the coding of e-Sword. The best idea would be to use both module types together with the bible reading plan as an outline and the devotional module for specific versification
