I have the MacArthur Bible Commentary in hardcover. I've been looking for a reference in there that I cannot find that I had quoted for my book I'm finishing up. First book and I was silly enough not to write down my references as I quoted them. That being said, if anyone has it on e-Sword or Logos or anything, could you search and  look up to see where the following is in it for me? I will forever be grateful:

Mental - the mind understands the gospel and the truth about Christ (Romans 10:14-17).
Emotional - one embraces the truth of those facts with sorrow over sin and joy over God's mercy and grace (Romans 6:17, 15:13).
Volitional - the sinner submits his will to Christ and trusts in Him alone as the only hope of salvation.

In addition, I had one more but I'm not sure if I got this quote from a sermon of the commentary. But if you could look it up anyway, would greatly appreciate it:

To trust, rely on, or have faith in. When used of salvation, this word usually occurs in the present tense ("is believing") which stresses that faith is not simply a one time event, but an ongoing condition.

Thanks you so much and Lord bless you.

Try Romans1:16 about the middle of the "believe" paragraph.

Welcome to the board if you are new, I've not noticed your before but I am not around that much :-)

Second text is the first part of that paragraph it would seem.

exscentric is correct I think,

Following is quoted from The MacArthur bible  Commentary for Romans 1:16...

...believes. To trust, rely on, or have faith in.

When used of salvation, this word usually occurs in the present tense ("is believing") which stresses that faith is not simply a one-time event, but an ongoing condition.

True saving faith is supernatural, a gracious gift of God that He produces in the heart (see note on Eph_2:8) and is the only means by which a person can appropriate true righteousness (cf. Rom_3:22, Rom_3:25; Rom_4:5, Rom_4:13, Rom_4:20; Rom_5:1; see notes on Rom_4:1-25).

Saving faith consists of three elements:

(1) mental: the mind understands the gospel and the truth about Christ (Rom_10:14-17);

(2) emotional: one embraces the truthfulness of those facts with sorrow over sin and joy over God's mercy and grace (Rom_6:17; Rom_15:13); and

(3) volitional: the sinner submits his will to Christ and trusts in Him alone as the only hope of salvation (see note on Rom_10:9).

Genuine faith will always produce authentic obedience (see note on Rom_4:3; cf. Joh_8:31; Joh_14:21-24)....

...End Quote

Is this what you were looking for??

Wow. What a blessing you all are. Thank you so much.

How silly is that not to write down your references as you go ;) ? This is the first in a series of books. Had to go back and find all of them and since I had about 17 books I consulted for references, I think I've learned my lesson quite well. Wracked my brain trying to find that reference. Flipped through the whole New Testament section but I was looking for how I formatted it so I never found it. Now I'm looking dead at it. Thank you very much.

@exscentric and Roy - if you'd like a free copy as one of my alpha readers, let me know. Least I could do.

@patchworkid - Almost did that last night but decided to ask first. I have plenty of good commentaries. Didn't want to spend $30.00 on something I already had which was actually cheaper than the E-Sword version.

God bless you and keep you.

Hi P.R.E.Z.

I purchased my copy from eStudySource in April of 2012. I was able to use a coupon which  they had sent to me because I had made a purchase the month prior to that (March). 20% off, not too bad :D.  I think they may still do this but I am not sure.

I am glad we were able to help out, and I would be honored to read your book. Thank you.

Roy

I figure I have the book. No need to get it on my computer. I'm old school like that. I have a hybrid of digital and physical books. I like the feel of flipping through pages when I study for some of my material.

Almost done with the book formatting. When It's ready for my alpha readers I'll let you know.

P.R.E.Z.,

Are you writing a book or a paper or something? May I edit it please :D? (If it's not already published or submitted).
