I love my e-sword and have many notes

i would like to backup all my files that are in e-sword on a thumb drive or a separate hard drive.

can I do this by copying the e-sword folder is Program Files?

yes. That's what I did. If you still have the .exe file you downloaded from e-Sword.net, you might back that up as well.

You'll need to copy both the program folder, and the user folder.

For WINE on Linux, the directories are something like:

• /home/ user name /e-Sword
• /home/ user name /.wine_Esword/drive_c/Program Files/e-Sword
• /home/ user name /.wine/drive_c/Program Files/e-Sword

For Windows, the second one translates into c:\Program Files(x86)\e-Sword, or c:\Program Files\e-Sword;
I don't remember how the first one translates into Windows nomenclature.
c:\Users and Documents\ user name\Documents\e-Sword.

e-Sword is not a portable application for Windows.
e-Sword can run as a portable application under WINE and Linux.

Before backing up the directories, take a look at how much disc space they consume, and ensure that you have at least that much free space on the drive you are backing it up to.
(FWIW, my e-Sword directory is 640 GB in size.)
