File Name: e-Sword ToolTip Tool NT(only runs in Windows environment)

File Submitter: BH.

File Submitted: 20 Mar 2012

File Category: e-Sword Utilities

Author: Brent Hildebrand

A Windows PC tool for making e-Sword modules.

Tooltip Tool documentation: e-Sword ToolTip Tool NT

NOTE when building a .bblx file.
What you need to do on the last line of text is put an enter for a new line, then put a space on the next blank line and enter for a new line. So it would look like
Rev 22:21 text goes here then [press enter key]

[space here][press enter key]

If you don't do this then the last line in your Bible will be missing. There isn't a problem with .bbli files.

========================================
Version 1.03 - 3/21/2012
========================================
-- New - Include RTF Header menu option - under Modules. Checking this option will cause T4 to write the RTF Header in each database entry for CMTX/DCTX/DEVX/MAPX/BBLX file. This maybe useful if you include images if you include images in your file. BBLX files do not support images, so uncheck this option if you are creating a BBLX file. (added with release of eSv10.1)

========================================
Version 1.02 - 3/21/2012
========================================
-- New - Old RTF code menu option - under Modules. Unchecking this option generates RTF code what is based on the New RTF control for CMTX/DCTX/DEVX/MAPX/BBLX files. This should be checked for these file types. Unchecking this option allows for images to be retained in the output file. e-Sword can not use them (v9.0-10.0), but the file may be able to be converted to a "The Word" file type. If you don't know what this means, then leave this option checked.

========================================
Version 1.01- 3/20/2012
========================================
-- Fix - when increasing zoom, text was not resizing and was being clipped and text was unable to be scrolled.

Dear Brent

I'm using Tool-Tip 1.27, e-sword 10.1 and Windows 7.

I'm having a problem with "Insert link" for a dctx file.

I can insert a link but when I view the dictionary entry the Ctrl arrow message does not appear and I can't click on the link.

By the way, for the insert internal link function, what is the arrow for? Could it not be "browse" like for topic files?

Also in XP (on my laptop) I can get an HTML external link working but not an internal file link.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Bill

Do you have the "version" set to 3 for the file?
#define version=3

?

Hi Brent

Yes. Set to 3 just as you have specified. What else might I be doing wrong?

Kind regards
Bill

Hi Brent

Sample files attached
- rtf file I used to generate the dctx file (this can't be uploaded, which was tool-tipped as well)
- rtf doc file (with random notes plus one big picture)

Try John 2:1 and click on Cana, otherwise just choose Cana from dictionary word list.

I tried the sample dctx file in E-sword but experienced the same issues as before with a large dictionary file i.e. both external and internal links are not clickable and ctrl arrow tip does not appear.

Thanks
Bill

First - your "internal" is not an an internal link but an external link. Try this for the link: file://c:\bla\bla\file.rtf

I built the DCTX file using your Sample file, and the links work fine. What am I missing?

Hi Brent

I made the changes you suggested but still the links are not clickable in e-sword i.e when you hover over the link the tip saying "CTRL + click to follow link" does not show and clicking gets no response.

If I read the dctx file, edit it and try to save it I get an error message, then have to change "abbrev" to "abbreviation". I don't think this would be the cause of my problem. Should I edit in this way or edit the rtf file and then save as a dictionary module. By the way the direction of the slashes in the file path change eg if I enter them as \ they change to /.

If it works for you and not me obviously something else is going on. What version Tool-Tip and e-sword are you using?

Also
1. If the link to a file on my hard disk is "external" (same as for a web address), what is an internal link.

2. What is the purpose of the arrow for an internal link?

3. Would it be possible to have a browse feature for a file on the hard disk?

I do appreciate your help a lot. Thank you.

Kind regards
Bill

did you try the sample file I posted above? Did it work?

If I read the dctx file, edit it and try to save it I get an error message, then have to change "abbrev" to "abbreviation". I don't think this would be the cause of my problem. Should I edit in this way or edit the rtf file and then save as a dictionary module. By the way the direction of the slashes in the file path change eg if I enter them as \ they change to /.

What was the error message???

If it works for you and not me obviously something else is going on. What version Tool-Tip and e-sword are you using?

I always use the most current version.

Also 1. If the link to a file on my hard disk is "external" (same as for a web address), what is an internal link.

Internal links are links to bookmarks. Bookmarks and Internal links must be for the currently displayed document. They are probably only useful in Topic Modules.

2. What is the purpose of the arrow for an internal link? 3. Would it be possible to have a browse feature for a file on the hard disk?

Yeah - but understand that the files may reside in different places on the hard drive if you plan to share your modules.

I do appreciate your help a lot. Thank you. Kind regards

Bill
