"Published in 1939-1940, this is a timeless collection of Biblical analysis, exposition, and truths with a unique blend of literary creativity. The metaphor of a water well perfectly describes the depth of thought and spiritual clarity."

This commentary began from the author's sermon notes and was published in 14 volumes:

Volume 1 Genesis 1 – 25
Volume 2 Genesis 25 – Numbers 9
Volume 3 Numbers 9 – 1 Samuel 3
Volume 4 1 Samuel 4 – Psalm 3
Volume 5 Psalm 1 – Isaiah 41
Volume 6 Isaiah 53 – Malachi
Volume 7 Matthew 1 – Mark
Volume 8 Mark 6 – Luke 23
Volume 9 John 1 – 20
Volume 10 Acts 1 – 15
Volume 11 Romans 1 – 1 Corinthians 14
Volume 12 1 Corinthians 15 – Colossians 3
Volume 13 1 Thessalonians 1 – 1 Peter 4
Volume 14 2 Peter 1 – Revelation 22

"Dr. Robert Edward Neighbour worked extensively with Southern Baptist missions and pastored a number of churches, including the First Baptist Church of Atlanta, GA. While there, he started the Baptist Bible Union and left the Southern Baptist denomination behind. After a number of years at the helm of the BBU, he left and continued his work as an evangelist and missionary until his death in 1945.

During his life, Dr. Neighbour wrote 94 books, including 2 hymn books, and started 82 churches. Only God knows how many people he won to Christ or how many people's lives were affected for eternity!"

The Judge at the Door

By: Robert Neighbour

What would I do
If Christ should come, ere comes the morrow?
Would I pass to
The realms of light, all decked and bright,
Beyond the strife of mortal life,
And stand before my Judge in sorrow,
Mid heaven's blue?

How would I feel
If I should meet my Judge, my Saviour?
Would I there kneel
Before His face, in sad disgrace,
My life all spent, on pleasure bent,
And all my shameful past behaviour
Beyond repeal?

Preface
"We praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, through the Eternal Spirit, hath given us grace to complete these fourteen volumes of sermons and expositions, which we now send forth in His Name, under the title of "Wells of Living Water."

These messages have been prepared during the past ten years as we have been on the wing, preaching daily here and there in various parts of the world. They were written almost entirely with the Bible alone before us.

We make no pretense to scholastic or learned deliverances; we do believe, however, that the Spirit of God has enabled us to present the great spiritual message of His own Word, revealing Christ from Genesis to Revelation.

We recognize our own weaknesses and inabilities, yet, we trust, they have not hindered the forth-shining of the perfections and power of the Spirit's most wonderful Word.

We inscribe, with gratitude, God's physical enablings, giving us strength to prepare our weekly messages from July, 1929 through July, 1939 with the exception only of a few weeks when we were on our back with a broken leg in the Presbyterian Hospital in Budapest, Hungary.

Finally, permit us to thank our devoted wife and helpmeet, Alma L. Neighbour, for her painstaking assistance in all of our work. We also thank the Union Gospel Press of Cleveland, Ohio, who have made possible the publication of these volumes.

Yours, praising Him,
Dr. Robert Edward Neighbour."
