I am in the process of restoring the Afrikaans Bible to compare with the HOT+ and find many discrepancies - texts not translated, texts inserted, parts of texts not translated and texts expanded.

In Afrikaans, we use great number of special characters - é, ê, ë, ä, á, etc.

When I use the Bible module for "compare" or "Parallel" viewing, the remainder of the word after the appearance of the special character and the special character disappears. I have searched the ToolTip User Manual extensively and don't seem to find any solution to my problem.

Can someone please help...?

Make first a backup.

For the problem with the accents need you a BBLI module that is not locked.

And  "DB Browser for SQLite"

https://sqlitebrowser.org/dl/

Click on File and "Open Database"  "all files (*)" and select the BBLI module.

Click on File and Export "Database to SQL"

Select all Table(s) save and "OK"

The SQL is a kind of text file.

Look to all the words that contain &

Use e-Sword to copy the accented letter of the verse

And replace it all by the accented letter.

The text file must be "save as" UTF-8

If you deal with all the & then need you Import the file and delete the .db after .bbli

By the way: I can fix it fast if I have the BBLI module.

And I can use the information (many discrepancies - texts not translated, texts inserted, parts of texts not translated and texts expanded) for my translation.

And you need a recent version of e-Sword (e-Sword 11-13, Apple or Android) for the BBLI

PLEASE refer to the Review for http://www.biblesupport.com/e-sword-downloads/file/2580-afrikaans-ou-vertaling-aov/ as provided 2022-08-21 by Olaf Bacon for details about the Afrikaans (1953) Bible as provided by the South African Bible Society for e-Sword.
