Hello, I own a Mac and I'm looking for the full e-sword + biblesupport experience for my study.  At this point I think the best thing to do is either get Crossover (and a new mac mini because mine is too old for crossover), or get a cheap reliable PC to use strictly for my study.

Ultimately I want to be able to use the full capability of e-sword and biblesupport resources and tools and i'm just not sure if I am going to regret staying on a mac.

especially since I want to:

1. access all bible support resources

2. do my own translation and create my own version/collection

3. be able to convert my translations to file type for use on e-sword, for printing ect.

4. have the very best functionality e-sword has to offer.

I can already see from the screen shots that the PC version of e-sword is better.

Please give me a quick personal review of using crossover with e-sword x compared with regular e-sword with a PC.  overall user experience comparison rating out of 10 would be really helpful or if you have insights.  thanks

I do not have any experience with using Mac's or Crossover so cannot offer an opinion.

I have been using e-Sword for Windows for the last few years going back to e-Sword version 9 and I have no complaints. The current version of e-Sword for PC's is verison 13 which I have not installed yet.

One of the things I like best about e-Sword for PC's is the ability to create modules with ease using a program called e-Sword Tooltip NT. As well as the easy ability to convert modules for Apple/Mac use with the official module converter. Creating modules on a Mac requires the installation of a Windows emulator such as Crossover.

In terms of your possibly purchasing a low cost PC, one option to consider is a low cost Windows Laptop instead of having two desktop computers. This will save you some space if you need to save some

Thanks.  I just bought a PC and I'm going to set it up in the basement.  It is going to be dedicated to e-sword and I also have bible works 10.  I will definitely be looking into module creation and tooltipNT.  I got a really affordable HP with 1TB and windows 10 installed.

Thanks for your reply.

There are different editions of e-Sword for Apple products, which are:

  • e-Sword LT for iPhone
  • e-Sword HT for iPad
  • e-Sword X for MacBooks and Mac desktop PCs.

The file extensions listed below are compatible for all the above devices.

  • bbli - Bibles
  • cmti - Commentaries
  • devi - Devotionals
  • dcti - Dictionaries
  • including anything that ends with an i at the end of the file extension.

Important Note:

Resources for the Windows edition of e-Sword are not compatible for the editions of e-Sword for Apple devices.

Trust this information proves helpful for you.

Blessings,
