Grace and peace, brethren!

First, sorry my poor English.

I been used e-Sword by Wine on Ubuntu for many years, without problems. But, after upgrading for version 13, it's broken. Two problems in instalation, registered in pictures.

Somebody knows how fix it?

I see the same issue with wine.

I found this https://www.codeweav...word?msg=223263

Installed each dll via the Crossover "Install Windows Software" tool.  So far, this seems to have corrected the problem.

But I don't see how to do this with wine. There is the properties where you can add dlls but that did not fix it for my test.

In order for e-Sword 13 to work properly you must also have Windows Media Play installed and active

I think that is a bad decision about e-Sword.

I tried install WMP by Wine, but don't work too. The last version of WMP are not avaluable in MS site.

I think a old version of e-Sword will resolve my problem.

Windows media player is required in order to use e-Sword's new Audio Bible function in e-Sword 13

Old versions of Windows Media Player can be found at this site:

And that is something that isn't in any Linux distro including Ubuntu. And on that note, I don't think there is a work around for it either. Eeeks! Not very good at all, is it?! O deary me.

Blessings,

WMP worked on old version of linux using wine back in 2002 era, but nobody working on anymore. As an alternative if your hardware supports it, using linux you can install windows as a virtual machine with libvirt(kvm) or virtualbox.  This way you can install and use e-sword on native windows.  For Windows license you can use free (limited) version of windows 10 (google how to free windows) or maybe you can find a license key online. Let me know if you're interested and I can provide you with more information.

The real solution IMO would be to get the online version back up.  Wish more people would get on board with that since it would help so many linux users.  Many less fortunate people around the world must use linux because Microsoft and Apple are too expensive, it's a shame such brilliant software must go un-used for so many.
