I have no idea.

Maybe if you give more information as to what platform you are using, e.g., iPhone, iPad, macOS, or Windows PC, or whatever, we might be able to help you.

But at a best guess, you just might not have enough RAM or a clapped out machine. Beyond that, I have no idea.

Stephen (Php 1:21).

Please explain which year and model and capacity of device you are using, and which specific app you are trying to listen to. Are you downloading the recordings from your own country, or from another foreign country? Do you have a local recording, or do you listen on-line? International bandwidth has been intentionally disrupted recently, between different countries. Cross-border access between certain countries and companies has been removed from world-wide access, recently. Try another supplier of data, from your own country. The less democratic a country is, the higher the chances of state-initiated shutdowns. Even the previous President of the USA, Donald Trump, had his Twitter account blocked by Big Brother, recently. So try to find alternative sources to listen to the Bible - if you have a local copy, it will be easier to play it, and listen to it, off-line off-the-internet. Or find someone who will read chapters to you aloud, when you visit them in person. They can actually use a paper copy to read from.
NOTE: The access to the internet which you are using may be overloaded, on the network on which you are at the moment. Try to disconnect and re-connect your access to the internet, on your internet provider network. Close other links to the internet which are simultaneously open.

For an up-to-date list of internet access, from various countries, here is a recent report.
"Internet Censorship 2021: A Global Map of Internet Restrictions", by PAUL BISCHOFF TECH WRITER, PRIVACY ADVOCATE AND VPN EXPERT, @pabischoff January 15, 2020.

This report provides a Country-by-country comparison of online censorship.

A program or app that freeze up is a common problem especially if it need Internet connection.
Don't look for crazy conspiracy theories.  That has nothing to do with Trump.

It is about SermonAudio.com in the Tools menu of e-Sword.
For SermonAudio.com need you a stabile internet connection and look if your own firewall (ZoneAlarm for example) not block the Internet connention of e-Sword.

What is the name of your e-Sword edition and Windows edition?
Do you use Proxy or normal internet connection?

I suggest that you update the drivers for your audio card, graphical card and Network adapters.
Use the last stable drivers: not alpha nor beta versions.
You need internet connection for it.
Open "Computer Management" by typing "Computer" in the search bar of Windows
The select "Device Manager" and look to audio, Network adapters and Display adapters.
double click and select the drivers tab and "Update Driver".
